I am hoping some one can brake out a tape measure and get a measurement from edge to edge on there triple screen set up I am planning on 27-32 monitors so any one with a setup in this range would be great. I am limited for space so I want to make sure i pick a monitor size that will fit before I make a decision

Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance

I am also interested in knowing this as I plan on doing this sometime in the near future :)
Does GT5 allow for three screens or is it only two?
and it might be too early to ask this, but any word on how many screens GT6 will support?

There are a few different things that will determine the width. Mostly though it will be the angle you choose for the monitors. In my setup Im using 23" monitors at a 65 degree angle and it is roughly 40" wide. You will probably need a minimum of 48" and possibly a bit more for those size screens.

I use 3 32" monitors, fully extended it would be in excess of 90", but with the monitors pulled in i'm at about 62" at the widest point.

I use triple 55" HDTV's and a angle of about 80°, most people do not use a high enough angle. Wrap them around your rig, much more immersive.

This is why I am aiming towards 32's I can get a bit more side view. I don't think 3 55's are in my future unless I win the lotto. I just don't have enough space left in my hobby room, as it is I have to do a big remodel to make room for my sim rig

Which models, what budget?
You may find that 40"-42" HDTV's are not much more over 27" monitors like Asus.
Also some of the newest HDTV have much slimmer borders but of course newer models will cost more than well reduced models.

My own new 47" Panasonic is almost twice the screen size with 1/2 the border size of my 24" monitors and the whole TV panel is not thicker than 1" in depth.

The slim borders and higher image quality also ruled out projection for me having purchased 2 of 3 Benq W1070st units. Sold them now and will run with 3 of these 47" HDTV later in the year. Much less hassle than the projection options too and for me a key bonus was 2D-3D conversion.

Ya, I hear you there, it was just dumb luck really that I went with the 55" HDTV's. I got the first one for half price, the second one was free and the third one I paid retail for it. If I didn't get a great deal on the first two, I would not have purchased the third one.

I'm with Latte here. I'm looking for immersion and wow factor when I decide to enter the PC fray. With the price and bezel of these new TVs, they seem like the choice over monitors.

I don't care about the remote, 3D, or smart apps. This will be used solely for sim racing. These two caught my eye at Best Buy the other day. Anyone have an opinion on either?

Panasonic 50" e60 for $699
or
Vizio 40" M for $520

Input lag will be higher on good tvs vs good monitors. At least look at plasmas for better response times if you go for tvs.

I think each option has it's good and bad points...
Is their a super fast panel beyond the 27"-30"? If their is it will likely be expensive.

For the gamer used to a superfast response monitor lag may be more of an issue or factor. In general we do not see forums littered with people complaining about over excessive lag on their new HDTV purchases.

Most of the TVs nowadays also have a game mode which helps but if lag is a problem for the user then really a fast monitor may be their best solution. You have to factor what is more important to your personal needs.

Plasma can give better blacks (not on all models and it is noticed more in a dark room). Yes they have faster response too but you still can have screen burn issues with plasma technology. I have a 50" Pioneer plasma at home but it is a behemoth compared to these new super slim LEDs.

A decent HDTV will easily outperform TN based fast panel monitors regards black level and quality of image. Likely less light bleed too often found on monitors. The contrast and clarity with good modern LED models is rather amazing as is the value now too. 40"-42" will be the sweet spot. Expect a couple hundred more for the 47-50" sizes.

I remember my first triple screen for Forza 1
3x Xbox £300 each
3x VGA adapters £50 each
3x Samsung 193P 19" Monitors £500 each

So the price and what you get these days is a heck of a lot more for your money. Mind you I think few people will be buying 3x Xbox One for triple screens at the start with FM5.

My concern with plasmas is potential burn in as it will always be displaying the same game and GUI. That coupled with the fact that 3 plasmas in a small room with a gaming PC would likely put off a decent amount of heat.

That Panasonic I referenced has a 30ms response time when put in Game mode. Would most find that sufficient?

I am foolishly hoping that Forza/XBone has a way to run triples off just one box. Foolishly...

I have a 63" plasma upstairs and the heat it produces is incredible. I couldn't imagine 3 of them in front of me, at any size. Newer plasma's do have burn in protection, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Check out CXC's solution, no bezels at all, triple 55" HDTV's for $9000.00

CXC

Oculus Rift will never replace triple monitors IMO, ever. :) Oculus Rift will be fun for many games but until I can see my complete cockpit it will not be want I am looking for.

Yes, plasmas tend to have orbiters now that exercise the pixels constantly. Burn in is all but a thing of the past.

I game on both a final gen Pioneer plasma and Sony hd crt and note quite a difference in regards to input lag. I sometimes watch others playing on their lcds and while the input lag would most likely be similar to my plasma, the response time deficiency is glaringly obvious.

My beloved hd crts are the ultimate gaming displays, in my not so humble opinion. Unless you need something that weighs less than a hundred freakin' kilos, that is.

I was planning on using plasma TV's as BIG computer monitors are still over priced I am using a 50 inch Samsung 8000 series plasma right now and the lag is minimal I Play a lot of COD as well as racing after trying to play COD on my neighbor's LCD, plasma is most defiantly the way to go for gaming the lag on the LCD TV is bad.

Oh and by the way this will be a iracing rig I took the plunge about a month ago and haven't run GT5 since. I am running it on my lap top right now on my 50 inch plasma I am also planning a PC dedicated to sim racing

I have three 55" Sony Bravia's and the lag is not an issue, mind you I only race on my PC, iRacing. I have heard of a simple test with the onscreen steering wheel. Simply turn your wheel back and forth and if the online wheel matches your wheels movement then you have minimal lag.

Of course this is not at all scientific, they have lag testers that will tell you preciously how much lag you have. I also have three Samsung 24" monitors and the lag or lack of, seems similar as to my Sony HDTV's.

Well the whole triple screen plans are on hold for a while some A$$ hat tried to brake down our front door last week😡 he didn't get in thanks to a passer by spotting him and calling to cops. But this is now costing me a bunch of money to add to the security of our home. This has been a good safe area but times are a changing.

I had an a88 hole try to break in through the dog flap once, didn't realise it at the time. When I informed the police they said unless he's actually stolen something theirs nothing they could do. And if it ever happens again just to make sure and take care of him so he never tries it again.....
And luck would have it the A hole past by my house again that same day, when I ran out to confront him he was already in the neighbours yard trying to climb through a gap in their fence.
Needless to say I made sure he got no further.
The neighbours were very grateful when they came to my door that night lol and apparently their was some red stuff splattered up the wall....But I wouldn't know anything about that lol

Hope you get your home security sorted and you can get your rig plans back on track.
Their a primal thing inside when it comes to protecting your home and family

Well the whole triple screen plans are on hold for a while

That sucks big time. I can't believe the nerve of some people, I have had similar events happen. Hopefully it won't take to long to get your triples, good luck.

Hope you throttled that a$$wipe very good. A guy broke into my truck and stole a 3 day old CD player. Police told me this kid broke into 11 cars in the neighborhood. The kid put on an act in front of the judge, started crying and stated the police ruffed him up.

The judge ordered the kid released until his court date. On the ride home the kid was mocking the cops, telling them how stupid they were. I asked the cop for the kids home address and I said I could straighten him out with no cost to the tax payer. The officer said no, but he thought it over for a second or two. :)

For you guys with these giagantic screens (42" +), can you tell me the distance from the monitors. I always wondered whether having such a large screen would be too overwhelming - like sitting in a front row in a movie theater.
