Got all the GT2 licence Golds and looking for a new challenge?
We had to get the Bronze Medals to play the game.
As long as we didn't stop for a picnic we just had to tour round to pass . . .
Then we completed the game 100%. What now???
Oh yes, could try for the licence SILVERS - pay attention to keep the car on the track and they are quickly done.
Forget the GOLDS - much too difficult
Well, maybe just try a few . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Some of them are really tough - took me ages to get the Laguna Seca test (S7?)
So have all GOLDS - what now?
Back in the days when GT2 was current . . . . . . . .
On "The Racing Line" website the idea was put forward by me for a higher standard.
Somebody said a Japanese site had done this very thing, but I never found it.
Anyway, after much discussion on the forum, it was decided there would be not 1, but 2 higher standards.
1) The first was PLATINUM, which would be a lot harder than GOLD, but a time a good player with determination (and a lot of spare time!) could achieve.
Not too difficult or many would not try for them
Not too easy or they would have little merit.
2) The second was ELITE, with times that were barely possible and were calculated that only a handful of drivers would be able to achieve them.
So taking each licence in turn, I calculated what I thought were sensible target times, which met the above criteria for Platinum and Elite.
I then upped these suggested times to the forum, so everybody had time to consider, discuss and criticise. Some times were accepted, some made harder, some easier, until all 60 GT2 licence tests had agreed target times.
These additional standards were implemented and shown on The Racing Line licence record database. The Platinum and Elite times had different colours, so you could see at a glance who had what.
To give a taste of the degree of difficulty, here are the GT2 B licence times
Licence Gold Platinum Elite
B1 38.650 38.250 38.000
B2 29.270 29.150 29.000
B3 26.800 26.600 26.400
B4 23.550 23.250 23.000
B5 32.000 31.850 31.700
B6 24.650 24.500 24.300
B7 20.750 20.650 20.500
B8 23.300 23.150 23.000
B9 23.550 23.400 23.200
B10 20.320 20.150 20.000
GT3 Platinum and Elite times were prepared but The Racing Line closed before these could be implemented.
GT1 and GT4 could get the same treatment.
So . . . .next challenge - 60 GT2 Platinum Medals ???
