Does anyone have any useful info on how to get PS2 AV to be played over a computer monitor. Basically what I'm trying to do is play PS2 on my computer instead of my TV and I'm not really sure how I would do that. Any solutions?

well what kind of video card do you have? I have a ATi radeon 755, with 64mb
it came with a cinnection that you put tour three cables in(yellow, white, red)
after all that go to where you watch your tv and put it on. there should be a little icon or something like that that says next connector. wala

I'm running on an HP laptop with an ATI RADEON IGP vid card. I have an S-Video port but I'm 99% sure its out. I was thinking I could just go to radioshack and pick up an AV-S Video cable, I'm pretty sure that would work but I'm not sure.

Also I have a TV tuner card at home, however I have nowhere to put that in my laptop .. stupid computers (lol). If anyone knows of any PCI-USB adapaters or laptop TV tuners let me know.

I read somewhere that there was an adapter to plug the AV cord into and it plugs directly into a monitor. Anyone know anything about this?

There is no such thing as a PCI-USB adapter. They are totally different technologies.

Unless you have a video input on your laptop (S-Video In), you're out of luck.

Yeah I figured as much, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything .. but I actually found out that they do make TV Tuners for laptops, they connect via USB2.0, so I'm probably going to go that route.

Thats kinda old, I'm gonna try and find somethin newer, I'll post it back here if anything comes up.

I'd love to have the PS2 hooked up to this monitor as then i can take proper screenshots of Gran Turismo for my website instead of the bad quality ones on there now.

But i'd need to get a new video card?

WOuld i also need to upgrade the computer at all?

- 1100 Mhtz motherboard
- 120 MB RAM (8 MB goes to the current video/graphics card?)
- 40 GB HDD
- 52x CD ROM drive

Nah, just check out the link above, it seems that as long as you have a usb2.0 you're straight.

I have a capture device called the Dazzle and I run that thru Ulead on the computer. It can even convert black and white PAL games to color. 👍
Dazzle is only around $40

Wuuhuuu... I'm able to answer with something useful :-) This should be exactly what you need. I've ordered one for use in my laptop, so I can record videos from the camera in the RC cars out in the wild :D (Micro camera and transmitter in the RC car)
TerraTec AV400 Mobile linkage

[edit]Comes in a version with TV Tuner as well - Quite a bit more expensive though....[/edit]

What you need is an AV/S-video -> VGA converter. I have one myself and it's neat n all, but do remember that it does not convert the resolution (unless you want to buy a REALLY expensive one that can scale the resolution). So you will be playing games on your monitor at 640x480@60Hz. Since the monitor has more pixels to display the image, you'll notice much more aliasing (jagged edges).

There are other companies that make such products, I would shop around and see which is best if I were you. :)

EDIT - Oh! oh! this one looks really kewl. It matches the looks of the PS2. 👍

sorry to bring this back from the dead, but are there any full-size screen shots of PS2 games on a monitor? just to see the effects on resolution...
