Sup all....so after reading this site like crazy the last month, falling in love with sim racing (mainly GT5 as I have a bunch of buddies that race) I've dove in head first purchasing the DFGT, then the Carrera Fanatec setup - then finally falling in love with the G27 as my final wheel!

It wasn't enough just having a wheel so I went the playseat route! (Buttkicker was ordered today...go big or go home :) )

My question is for anyone out there with this type of playseat and the G27.....I can't get the steering wheel far enough away from me at the proper height, my legs are perfect but my arms are cramped. I have the plate mounted at it's back most point, and I have the poll out as far as it can go. Now I can move the wheel back up the poll a little, but it ends up being to high.....I can't find the right height and distance which is completely annoying at this price point. Looking at the evo design, this would not be an issue.......grr.

Also - the shifter is just a tad to low from what I"m used to drive in "real life" - I've had short throw 6 (or 5) speed cars (Mini - current, Subaru Legacy Spec B, Forester, Legacy to name the last 4 ) and all have been higher then this low mounted shifter on the seat....

Summary
1) Anyone know a way to get the wheel further away but keep the height?
2) Anyone know a good way to raise the shifter?

After this, I'll tackle the inverted pedal issue - now that I have this setup I can see the value.....and maybe an ebrake =)

Thx all!

Seat sliders for the seat will probably gain you another couple-few inches, but it makes you another inch higher too.

correct me if im wrong, but it looks like you used the clamp to fix the wheel (back of the mount seems to offer unused space)?
If so you will prob. gain some more inches when you use the drill holes to mount the wheel !?

edit: for the shifter, you can simply use any kind of wood, plastic etc. between mount point and lower shifter end to increase height...

Yeah, I have the seat sliders installed..man those things were a PITA without instructions.

But the pole that holds the wheel moves with the seat...so the sliders are actually useless with this model really - as you can just move the pole with the pedals if you needed to adjust. It's good for quick adjustment if more then just I were using it I guess..

I'm really hope'n i'm not the only one that has this "figment issue" this thing wasn't cheap I'd made the assumption that it's positioning would be infinite.

Don't get me wrong, I love this thing and my racing has dramatically improved...but for $$$ I want it to be a perfect fit...maybe I'm be'n greedy!

@Thaddaeus - Yes, this is what drives me nutz - that space kills me. But the G27 wheel has that front lip that hangs over, there isn't a way to remove the lip to make the base of the wheel "flat" for mounting (like you can the shifter mounts), the lip/mount all seem to be built into the wheel/plastic and don't look like the can't be removed in tandum..... if I'm missing something and they do come off I'll be super excited!

I tried to search playseat/google/youtube and such for mounting instructions but couldn't find anything!

You have to be comfortable to have fun, and I've never been comfortable in a PlaySeat myself, that's why I went with a racing seat + wheelstand solution...

i dont know the wheel etc. but if you cant get rid of it, just use two wood plates to even out the lower surface of your wheel. You can then srew the woodplates to your rig.
Result would be, that your wheel is farther away from your chest and maybe a few centimeters higher (which can then be negatec by the stand itself probably).
If you do it right and maybe paint it shortly, you wont see the little homework.

^ Yeah, good call...I'll give it another week of playtime and see what I think....other then that this thing is awesome.

Thx for the advice...I'll just get creative with a solution, I was hoping there was something I could do that didn't require customer work...but no biggie!

It's amazing how much better my lap times went from a controller to a wheel setup, then from the hacked wheel setup to the playseat....really is amazing.
