Hi. I wanto to get a PS3 and this game. The PS3 is USA/NTSC and I live in Europe(GT5:P is european game as well). Will I be able to run in on USA system? I've searched through internet and some said EUROPEAN GT5 WILL NOT WORK on USA PS3. Is that correct?
Please help me.. I am losing a great deal here as the time passes by. :)

You will be able to play any PS3 game from any region on any PS3 from any region.

This is the best answer from the link you supplied:

First of all, PS3 games are Region free! So if you have an NTSC PS3 system and you wanna run PAL game, you can, and vice versa!. Region 1 (NTSC), you'll find it on the side of the box, written 1. Region 2 (PAL), you'll find it on the back of the box, written 2. The issue here is either from your TV compatibility system or from your PS3 video output settings! Is your TV Multisystem? Meaning, does it supports NTSC and PAL video content? Because if your TV Region 1, NTSC system only, then you can't run a PAL content, like GT5 Region 2 (PAL)! Check the color system that's supported by you TV, do you see PAL? Check also your PS3 video output settings, by the way, 480i & 480p are NTSC video signals, 576i & 576p are PAL video signals!

If you have a High Definition TV and you connect to it via HDMI you shouldn't have any problem running any region's PS3 game on any PS3.

High Definition sets are all supposed to work to the same standard rather than SD sets which are PAL, SECAM and NTSC.

Most late era SD sets will handle the different signals but there's no guarantee all PS3 games will work with them.

Even though the ps3 made region free but your TV might not be unless as explain it HDTV. Because TVs are made specific for each regions for their local broadcast. Pal and NTSC have different frequencies so if you play one on another it won't play right. If you google Pal vs. NTSC wikipedia has a really good topic for it.

That's true, but only to an extent. The only real limitation is on CRT televisions, and even then anything made since about 1998 will happily display PAL and NTSC signals.

But, ultimately, my first answer stands. And since I play PS3 games from all regions on my launch 60Gb EU PS3, I'd like to think that I have a little credibility where this is concerned.

oh yeah ps3 can play games from any regions because it's region free. I'm just trying to explain to him the different between Pal vs. NTSC on non HDTVs (CRT analog)

Apologies - the latter part wasn't really addressed to you.

So it will work for sure on HDTVs because they share the same output format?
I have a CRT alright via RGB lead to my consoles and I'm loving it actually(the colors the most), HDTVs don't impress me too much(well plasmas are cool but expensive).

I'll just try it myself. If it works I'll buy the console and this game(it's the only one I want to play so much). :)

Thanks for the help.

It will work with your CRT. As far as I can understand your statements to HDTV, I changed to it and I am VERY satisfied. If one thing is worth buying good LCD or plasma, then it is PS3 with GT5p. I have Samsung 46" LCD with fully calibrated picture settings and the picture is just wonderful.
