Please Help Tunning With Impreza WRX...

Hi, I'm new to these forums but I've been looking around and couldn't find anything on what I'm looking for. I'm sort of new to the game GT3 to but it's a great game. Anyways....

My Question's: How should I tune this vehicle? What tires do I need to buy? What settings do I need it on for different races, etc, etc, etc...

Car:Impreza (SEDAN) WRX STi Version VI
Max Power - 529 HP
Max Torque - 62.0ft
Displacement - 1994cc
Weight - 1079
Drivetrain - 4WD
Engine Type - Boxer4 DOHC
[Maxed all my upgrades for everything]

JUST HOW DO I USE THE STUFF!!

Also If I shouldn't even bother with this car what car shoould I save up for if I allready have like 111,000cr, and what upgrades. If anyone knows any links or anything as well that would be much help.

Hi, Mr. Marlboro, and welcome to GTPlanet! Thanks for looking for your answer before posting a new thread.

The first place I would start is by reading ///M-spec's Pocket Guide to Suspension Tuning above. That's a great guide to what suspension adjustments do, and why you should make them. Also, check the OLR School board on the Online Racing forum here.

Although POWER is tempting, I always make that my last upgrade. I'd rather maximize how well the car uses the stock power level before I just throw money into horsepower. Using a better handling car with less power makes you a better driver.

The first place I always start is with tires, before anything else. Where the rubber meets the road is the most important part of any car. Good tires will maximize the performance you can get from the stock car, and the STi is a good enough stock car for a lot of races. I always get T2 Super Slicks as a minimum, and sometimes T4s or T5s. T8 Super Softs will give you the fastest lap times, but they wear out too quickly in races with tire wear on. I don't like to be in the habit of driving with them, so I usually go with T4s or less.

Next I put on the Race suspension. Even without adjusting it, the car will handle much better, plus it is the most adjutable. See above for the tuning guide to start.

After the suspension, I usually go for the Race transmission. Again, adjustability is the key. Most cars have enough power, if you can use it well. The stock gear spacing is often terrible. Search for the words "tranny trick" to find a method of adjusting the race transmission that gives good results.

After the trans I will add the full-customized LSD to get the power down through the wheels better, and perhaps the race flywheel and 3-plate clutch. Sometimes on these two parts I go with the semi-race and 2-plate, but usually not. In fact, I rarely bother with any of the 'halfway' components - Sport or semi-race, or whatever. Usually the higher grades of everything but power are the most cost-effective.

LAST on the list of adders is power. I really like to work the car as best I can with lower power before going all out with turbochargers or any of the other parts. A big-power, bad-handling car teaches you terrible driving habits. You will lose in the corners and win in the straights, which teaches you nothing except that power will get you out of trouble. Learning how to keep your momentum up in the corners will teach you to be a better driver.
