GT6 needs better track ambience. Every track in 5 is just dead and lifeless. They nailed it with GT4, especially on the rally tracks with people taking photos constantly and stepping out onto the track in a bold fashion, only to scurry back in the nick of time.

Just from the demo but it doesn't bode well, empty stand.

Those buggering photographers would always dodge you with a second to spare too, no matter how fast you went. :irked:

I'd like to see them return in GT6, so I can see if I can hit them with an X2011. :D:tup:

In tracks like London and Eiger Nordwand, I have noticed the crowd doing a pose reminiscent of the Backstreet Boys whenever I get close to the wall.

First of all, DAMN! Amazing what that guy did.
Secondly, it's all about resources and priorities. They were able to do it in the GT HD demo (and the game?) so there's a reason it's not like that now at Eiger Nordwand Short and any dirt track. I hope PD have something reeking up their sleeve to do what they did with that Grand Canyon track.

It was in GTHD? Can you find a video of that or something? I don't recall it, but then again that was what, 6 years ago?

The people were more animated and not creepy like they are now.

:( The shifting sounds' authenticity and that track, Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the trouble is that people in GT4 looked like cardboard figures, and PD probably realised that. But it doesn't matter, since all we want is life in the track... It's like we don't matter, and no one cared to see our races... Way to destroy the "career" in "career mode"!

I swear the spectators in Matterhorn look more animated, it's quite hard to tell but I think some of them are waving their arms, kind of like GT4...

Edit: just noticed in that GT4 video... camera flashes? in the middle of the day?

There are a lot of people in the world, who don't turn off the flashes of their cameras at day time. You haven't realized this before?

There are plenty of applications for flash in daylight. It's commonly used to "fill" shadows to even out the lighting on a subject where there's bright (sun)light coming from overhead.

You see it sometimes with racing photography (ever seen night shots from Le Mans where the reflective graphics on the car look like they're glowing?) but I usually avoid doing so because I don't want to distract the drivers and maybe have to cash in my photo liability policy...

Honestly, I'd rather empty stands at races so much more than terrbile 2D cardboard cutouts. It's just embarrassing that a PS3 game has 2D visuals as bad as that -- same thing as the 2D trees spammed around every track.

Given that PD is simply incapable of giving background spectators a proper, acceptable appearance, I don't want them at all.

Notice how the car shifts like a true manual and not in .0000234 milliseconds?
Or that the exhaust occasionally makes an explosion kinda sound when
gas in being burned in the pipes?

That was an as near to perfect lap of the Grand Canyon course as you'll ever see in that GT4 video - I'm impressed!
It was experiences like that which I missed the most in GT5, let's hope GT6 brings them back.

The spectators at Matterhorn are definitely different and better than gt5. Clearly this rentacrowd were there on their holidays when PD scanned the roads.

;0)

Well every GT6 Video we saw till now was from a DEMO. I think they didnt put much Life into it because of the size of the Demo and so they can put other things in it.

Just hope for the best.

GT4 surely had track life and you did really feel like a Group B hero, especially in a Group B car :sly: I really hope the GT6 spectators are just a bit more lifelike than GT5, even if it means going back to, for the sake of using a popular GT5 term, standard quality. In this particular case I guess we can all agree quantity is more important than quality :)
