Polite warning

I have recently joined the site and I understand that the site has rules which I must follow and I know in a few of my posts I have not been doing so, there is however a reason for this, I have Asperger's and ADHD which can sometimes cause me to rush with things like typing, so I apologise for any mistakes I make and I know I do need warning's because hopefully they will help me be more careful in the future.
One other thing I may sometimes say something I don't mean because I haven't taken my medication, so don't take anything I say personally and I understand it isn't acceptable.

First off, welcome to the forums!

Second, it would probably be best to not use this site when you haven't taken your medicine(s) yet, to avoid infractions. The staff here, although nice, aren't very lenient on the rules.

And I make typing mistakes all the time, blame a mobile keyboard .

Before posting just wait and proof read.

Your condition may make you misspell words but it doesn't make you click the "post reply" or "post topic" buttons

Get firefox and anytime you misspell a word it gets a red underline which can be seen and right clicking on the word brings up words that could be what you want to use.
I don't know if chrome supports this sort of spell check thing.

Even internet explorer supports that.

Hey welcome to GTPlanet :gtpflag: - enjoy your time here.

I have mild Aspergers and ADHD myself, and I know what you mean, sometimes I make typos and errors in posts. Just relax, take your time, and remember that this is just the internet after all, not life and death!

Furi :)

Is this the 'Polite Warning' thread?
*koff . . . ahem . . .

I must politely warn you, all of you, everyone, that----- oh!

Sorry axel, just listen to Furi - he got it right. :)
And welcome to the addiction.

As someone with aspergers, I don't think it's right to be held to a different expectation.

I work hard to act respectfully and "Normal" and if I'm having a "moment" I stay well away from sites such as GTPlanet and cool off elsewhere.

Please don't use Aspergers as an excuse for misbehaving, work on improving yourself so that you don't even have to tell anybody.

I am not using it as an excuse I am just warning people that if I do say something that I shouldn't they shouldn't take it personally, I agree with you I should be treat the same as everyone else.

Good on ya, sorry for misinterpreting your post - too many people with our disorders use it as an excuse to act like asshats and it gets to me.

Same here but I wouldn't dream of using it as an excuse because I know that I can control it meaning I shouldn't be able to say I did that because I have disabilities, with some disabilities its fair enough like tirrets most of them cannot help but say something out loud but they do tend to apologise for it.

Another thing I cannot stand is when the parents of teenagers with autism and ADHD baby them and wont let them have a life because they have the disabilities or they let them get away with everything this just teaches them that they don't have to control their disabilities and can do anything which wont do them any good when they are older.

I wonder, does Tourette's syndrome affect typing? Or is it just verbal?

I can't see how somebody could spontaneously and uncontrollably type the kind of foulness they're famed for spurting orally.

There are physical tics with Tourette's, but the typist is more likely to end up with a typo than a profanity. Someone suffering from coprographia is more likely to type something obscene. It's very uncommon with Tourette's, and more likely to be aligned with a more severe brain physical or chemical imbalance.

Tourette isn't characterised by swearing. Coprolalia is just one of many "tics" and, though by far the most marketable one because it's obvious (and funny), not a feature of the vast majority of Tourette sufferers. Some will repeat words and phrases back to you - or repeat their own.

Tourette is effectively a compulsion disorder, usually featuring muscular tics and at least one verbal tic - think of OCD (proper, not internet - where there is a literal physical compulsion to perform an action), but without conscious acts. Tourette sufferers not only have to tic, they do so without any actual participation, only knowing about it in the same way you or I know about an impending sneeze (and they can, with sufficient warning, suppress it in the same way). In fact a Tourette diagnosis is often accompanied by an OCD diagnosis...

So no, a Tourette suffer who sneezes out a 🤬 wouldn't type it.

I was pointing out that Tourettes is commonly portrayed with the use of profanities.

Using speech-to-text could have funny consequences.

But then, Scotsmen would even have a bigger problem. They don't even notice that they're using profanities :P

That's called coprolalia. Here you go (very language warning):

EDIT: I am trying to link to the video, but the forum won't let me.

Well, I have neither Asperger's or ADHD and therefore no excuses, so you've got one up on me. :D

Welcome aboard.

There is a Youtube clip of a Rangers fan being interviewed in the build-up for the Europa League final a couple of years back on the Manchester local news, thanks to his thick Glasweigian accent he managed to utter a very offensive profanity that was broadcast unnoticed. Not going to post the link for obvious reasons but it's pretty hilarious.
