Which version of a track that has both Classic and Modern do you prefer?

Personally i love the classic tracks why more then the modern ones

Hockenheim Classic - Great long track
Classic Monza GP - Love all 3 variation
Silverstone Classic - So much better then today's version :D
Spa-Francorchapms Classic GP - not a good race track, but it makes for a good sunday drive track :D

:gtpflag:Cant wait till classic Le man is added

If we speak of Hockenheim the answer is pretty easy.

However overall i have to say that in career mode i prefer modern tracks just for realism/ immersion.

Off topic: i hate road stages so much i would like to get rid of them from the game.

Monza and Spa I prefer the modern track.

Silverstone and Hockenheim is a no brainer...classic versions are far better imo.

Really depends on the car I am using...Group 4/5/6 and Group C just looks wrong on the current Le Mans track, altough it´s great fun. but I hope more Classic tracks are going to make it into the game. Classic Le Mans with first priority, which is my Version of Nazareth really. Holy Ground. Hockenheim ans Silverstone are far better in Classic shape, no doubt. I prefer the Modern spa to the classic one I have to say.

On a sidenote: When I went to Spa Classic 2016 with my Girlfriend we always drove from Stavelot to Spa with my car. There were barriers and fantastic Corners everywhere on our route and I always thought "hang on, thats like a racetrack, it´s damn good fun to drive, well done community road planners".

Turns out, I really was driving on the actual old Spa-Francorchamps circuit (From Stavelot via Malmedy to Eau Rouge), which makes me immensely proud. The best Moment was when an Iceblue Ferrari F50 came screaming the other way, another Festival Attendant.

The classic tracks are the true gems. Just look at the Monza layout, it is awesome.

Current-day Monza layout is butchered, beaten and abused all for the sake of safety. Perfectly acceptable in the real world (even though not without a few tears) but there is no reason we can’t enjoy the true temple of speed in the virtual world. :)

I need a both option, although it would defeat the point of a poll.

All in, Hockenheim classic is my favorite track in the sim.

They should add classic tracks to existing modern variants. E.g. Redbull Ring. Much of the track is already modelled, so why no add the old Osterreichring? Even if they have to estimate the old track than laser scan it because I don't think the Tiroch Kurve exists any more. That's an efficient way of adding content. Besides which, the modern variant is turd of course.

I think you mean can't wait rather than can wait!

I'm more looking forward to the Le Mans car content than the classic version of the track although that will also be very welcome. I wonder how far back in time they will go? Personally I hope it is early enough that we still have sand banks instead of gravel run off areas

Le Mans Sandbanks.jpg

Above Lotus Elan collides with a Le Mans sand bank while below Triumph driver digs out his car. It's unthinkable now to imagine drivers spending sometimes over half an hour digging out their cars before racing on!

Personally I love the classic tracks in the game, but they are best raced with appropriate cars. I was expecting to hate Historic Spa, but I absolutely love it in the 1952 Mercedes 300 SL or 1959 Aston Martin - those cars are absolutely perfect on that track.

I would love to see Brands Hatch get the classic track treatment, but preferably back to a 1960's or 1970's look - the track was slightly longer and had a better flow and also viewing was much better being uninterrupted by high fencing or buildings (race control was much smaller and lower). There were a couple of giant scoreboards (as big as houses) in which a happy crew of teenage boys kept track of positions 1 to 6 and the number of laps completed by moving huge wooden black boards with white painted numbers. It was surprisingly difficult and I was once teased by the drivers for losing track of the laps and being two laps ahead! At the end of the meeting the sponsors gifts would be laid out on big tables for the Marshalls, drivers and scoreboard boys to take what they wanted. I remember there being loads of cigarettes and Brut 33 after shave - neither of which interested me as I hadn't started shaving!

Below Brands in 1963 and Jim Clark leads Jack Sears - both in NASCAR spec 427 Ford Galaxies chased by 3.8 Jaguar Mark 2's.

Above Brands in 1964 - Sir John Whitmore (Lotus Cortina) leads Jackie Stewart.

I would also like to see the classic / historic treatment given to Bathurst (Mount Panorama) and there are a few tracks I would like to see added to the game - Sebring modern and classic. Charade (France), Riverside (USA), Crystal Palace (London), Longford (Tasmania) to name a few. If SMS added an old NASCAR such as the 1963 Galaxie in road and oval spec and perhaps a Tasman Cup single seater which could compete with the Lotus 25 I would be a very happy man!

I didn´t know that Jimmy did Nascar Circuit Races besides his duties at Lotus, Thanks for the info (and as always, your "blast from the past" post)

Thanks - I don't think Jimmy did any Nascar races, but in 1963 Ford built 200 lightweight code R 427 Galaxies primarily for NASCAR and Drag Racing. Three Holman and Moody prepared Galaxies were imported to the UK for use in the BSCC (now BTCC). One was owned and raced by Sir Gawaine Baillie of Leeds Castle, Kent who was a brilliant saloon car driver. One was owned by John Willment who employed Jack Sears as his star driver. Jack won the BSCC championship in the car in 1963 (Note he started the season in a Cortina GT because the Galaxie didn't arrive until after the season started. There were lots of homologation issues even resulting in John Willment punching an official and getting banned from being trackside - the British authorities kept insisting that more and more of the NASCAR style roll cage be cut out of the Galaxie as in their view it would give the car an unfair advantage. Jack Sears switched to a Lotus Cortina for the final rounds of the championship). The third Galaxie was used by guest drivers including Jim Clark, Dan Gurney, Roy Salvadori and Graham Hill. The Galaxies were used in the UK in 63 and 64 plus the ETCC, Australia and also in the South African Springbok series - this is definitely the Historic NASCAR which SMS should add to the game as it has so much history and was used in multiple motorsport disciplines. The Willment Team car is easy to spot as their cars were white with a thick red stripe flanked by thin red stripes. Sadly Jack passed away last year and his championship winning car was recently sold.
