I really like their popular stuff but I don't listen to them on a regular basis.

Pretty cool live though.

"Hall of Famers"

They were the first really brutal band, they were really important for all Extreme Metal - Genres.

They are so cool live, too.

Never heard of them, so I'm not voting. But there seems to be a bias towards metal, methinks...💡

Hall Of Fame, definitely. They are one of the 'Big Four'. They have to be in the Hall Of Fame. Like 20832 said, they've had a big influence on modern metal.

Plus I'm seeing them at Sonisphere in the summer... :D

Of the "Big Four", Slayer is my least favorite, in fact, I don't like them at all. Not quite sure why I've never really been into them though.

Lol, every metal band that has been nominated has had an incredible influence on the genre so they should be in the HoF. Even one that didn't make it (Overkill)

From what I've noticed, metal is the favourite genre of the computer geek.

I find that its generic rock bands actually. Disturbed, Nightwish, Nirvana, Korn, Evanescence, Slipknot, Static-X etc...

Slayer basically re-invented Metal. Besides Exodus and Venom nothing out there has loud and heavy as Slayer. Insane riffs, phenomenal performances, great execution and great song writing both musically and lyrically. I'm not even a huge Slayer fan but there is no denying there influence on metal from the 80's on.

How about we let the music speak...

You don't write that riff and not get into the HoF.

I feel like running through walls now despite the fact that I'm sick.

Rock/Metal is the favorite genre of people who appreciate real music, not mass-produced ********.

I found a Katy Perry concert while zapping through TV channels a while ago. Man I would've been pissed if I spent any money on that ticket.

I like to define the quality of a band by comparing their album sound to their live sound BTW

To get back on topic: Slayer is definitely HOF 👍

Although I'm a metal head I don't really like them that much.

You can't argue with the influence they have on the metal scene and their popularity in a worldwide basis. Hall of Famers.

In some cases, yes. But they usually don't know much of the songs, only like, 2 or 3 of them that EVERYONE knows, but then there's me, one of GTP's biggest Maiden fan, who can name every studio album name from 1982-2010, name every song name AND it's length from 1982-1992, and 2000 - 2010, and I'm not a computer geek, as I don't know how to do anything useful with a computer. But as opladener, some of us aren't just copiers and don't like the generic boring music created by pop bands, I don't even listen to the radio because of it, it's all the same 🤬

I can't stand metal.

+1

I check out the Music board quite often, but never really find any discussions to jump into because most people here seem to like metal, and I don't.

This is not an insult towards anybody, everybody has different tastes, and thats a good thing, because life would be boring if we all liked the same stuff. 👍
