Good thread OP.

No matter how 'complete' GT5 would have been, we would have found something disappointing. It is inevitable as our true desires to experience reality through a video game will never be satisfied, this is only natural and realistic.

In the sense of function, progression, and improvement; Gran Turismo is a Racing Simulator and to me the most critical aspect of this is the experience you achieve when driving the cars, be it cruising, flying, or on the limit. In this regard, Gran Turismo has done an exceptional job with clear improvement throughout the series. For me, everything else is a bonus.

We should be glad that Polyphony Digital have given us well over a decade of beautiful simulator driving experience and fun simply from sitting on our couches, or behind our racing wheels, at home. Let us just hope that future updates (improbable) or Gran Turismo 6 (probable) will satisfy many of our desires for the sake of all.

Voted ambivalent. Love it and torn with a lot of things. Still play it of course. I find everything surrounding GT5,the images, collectables, packaging (signature edition), the home page of GTplanet, even the tuning forum threads look fantastic but the look and polish in game is lack lustre. Let me explain a little more so you don't bash me
Take for example, 'Apex' the official GT magazine. I loved it. Have read it over and over again. Very informatve and explains many things in detail about cars and tuning. Where are all those options in GT?
I keep saying this but I wish there was that feel of personalisation in GT5. Kaz reiterates about 'human-drama' and this would be one of those things. I find all the trade and show-off lobbies and threads pointless. What is there to trade? Now...if I customised and tuned a car with actual parts, brand names and vinyls/paint-job, people would say "Whoa, I want that, want to trade??" (ok I exagerated a little there) but you get my drift.
Just adding green chrome paint and purple wheels doesn't make you special or standout from others. You still installed the Type 1 (of one) front spolier the same as thousands of other players.
But I still play the game though
