Polyphony 001 Settings at Laguna Seca

Hi GTP'ers.

I have decided to run my Poly 001 at Laguna and am really struggling.

My current best clean lap is 58.2 which is quick but nowhere near my target time of mid 56's.

I have issues with what feels like a "loose" F1 car, I ran in the Vette in week 69 (I think) in the WRS and liked the "loose" feel but Im not happy with the way the Poly handles and corners at Laguna.

I havent got my setts with me as Im at work but I will post when I get home.

Also does anyone know where can I get a brand new F1 from ? via X-port ?

Thanks for your help in advance

I tried to resurrect the F1 Series via the archive section but it wouldnt let me go back that far !

You can use mk's to get any new car.

Steps
Transfer your garage from the PS2 to the PC using the Xport
Load up mk's
load garage
Pick a car you want to replace with the P001
Right click on the car base field and select change car
Click on sort 1st column
scroll down and choose the Williams FW16a and click select
Once it's in and you've chosen your colour (same method, right click colour field and choose change part)
Click on file and choose "write garage" (I just overwrite the garage file that I opened)
TRansfer that back to the PS2 using the Xport

et voila, a brand new P001 has appeared in your garage for you to use. You can use this method for any car.

Things to remember -
You must overwrite a car that exists in your garage. (buy a few of the cheapest car before you transfer the file if you don't want to lose any existing car)
You can drive the Diablo, stratos, F1's that we don't have, but you don't get the body. You can give it another body, but the exact one is missing from our disc.

I so need to do this to get some new 001's.

You see where it says load MK, where do I get MK from ??? I know it sounds really thick but so what !!! Apart from that the rest sounds sort of OK - ish ?

OK so thats how I do it but Famine's link has indeed died !! Thats what you mean wasnt it daan ? When you click on d/l it you get an angry message !!

I know I was posting - sorry.

Anyway Ive got the file now saved in my received documents folder. Its zipped so how do I unzip her ?? If not which icon do I nedd to be clicking on to get the program up and running ??

I have right clicked as selected "save target as" is that right ??

Yeah.

Huge Huge thanks to daan who spent ages telling me all about the program and what you can do with it 👍

did you like my gift daan ??

From GT1 !

I am absolutely tearing my hair out on Laguna - Ive been trying for the past two days and Ive only just broken under 58 seconds. Im desperate for a mid to low 56 second lap.

If anyone has got any hints about the course (not mentioned already) or and earth shattering settings then pleeeease post them !!

Im on the brink of giving up and choosing another course to run as Im not enjoying the laps at Laguna at all

Any help is greatly appreciated

I see UB57 is quick at Laguna in the 001 ???

And he knows someone with a 55.4 lap. I'll see if I can get that too.

You can do the save/load garage trick to stock up on F1's I have about 3 - 4 different colors for all F1 (excepth the 94/H - US version here). Need tons of money, though.

I'll post my Laguna time later when I get home. I think I'm in the .58's like you.

Edit: Yeah. Just posted a 0.58.073. Down about .200+ seconds from my previous top time. I fooled around with different settings... but I think ultimately I was faster simply because my lap was a little cleaner. I was behind my ghost after the first hair pin... then I slowly caught up and finally passed the ghost at the cork screw and just took it from there.

Thanks for the tips but Im an x-port user so can get the 001's much easier than save/load trick ;) Ive got 10 001's all with 0 miles on just waiting for me to rip the tracks up with !!

Ive done with Laguna anyway - my best was a 57.4 I think ??

Hmm. Did your time improve because you used a brand new car? Or different settings?
I may have to ride fresh F1s and give them a spin. I really didn't think it'd matter that much.

TBH it was just because of practice practice practice, Im still not happy with it at all as I was aiming at mid 56's - I can always run it some more though NOT !!
