Hey ,
I purchased the regular Porsche 911 Carrera Wheel wheel today because the other v2 was sold out. After doing some reading im a little confused about a few things....
-This wheel is compatable with GT5 right??
-Whats this stuff i keep hearing about people getting their shifters late?

Sorry for dumb post but i just thought itd be easier if i just got a quick answer. Thanks again

Kyle

Works on GT5P, and Fanatec has confirmed it works with GT5 as well.

It will come with the shifter in the same box. It's part of the standard package of components. The GT3RS wheels do not come with shifters...it's always an add on feature. Those are the ones on back order.

so with this issue...does it make heal/toeing impossible? In other words, anytime the clutch and gas a depressed at the same time you can't shift?

I'm getting my wheel next week and want to know what to expect.

I guess so, when the accelerator is depressed (even a little) with the clutch, it jams into neutral. But as I said, that is more of the game than the wheel.

I'm also looking into ordering one of these Fanatec 911 Carrera's... And damnit why won't K. Yamauchi fix these problems. :scared:

Looking to buy my first ever wheel and im looking to buy this one. I would greatly appreciatte some opinions on this wheel and in particular, how well it works with GT5.

As its my first wheel i wasn't really planing on spending much and this seemed ideal within my price range. I looked at the wheels up to about £50 and most forums says there rubbish as they're just like toy racing car wheels.

The DFGT (£80) looks good but the reason the fantec appeals is because of the seperate H shifter (dont like the position of the dfgt's shifter plus its on the wrong side for me). Is it worth it having a seperate shifter you can postion in a more realistic postion?

I currently own GT5, F1 2010, Supercar Challenge, Dirt 1 and WRC 2010. How well does the wheel work with these games any problems? Really interested in how it works with GT5 and F1 2010.

I see members mention problems with the clutch for all the wheels what is the problem?

Whats the force feedback like? (Having never owned a wheel before, force feedback to me means vibration when you go over bumps, but i hear reviewers talk about it in a different way)

I appreciate its a long post, and i have checked other folks reviews, but i just didn't want to plunge for something that i hadn't even tried before, and I havn't seen anyone talk about how well it works, or doesn't with GT5. Which is my main concern.

Same for me, I'm getting mine this Christmas, and would also like some more opinions. Not many people have this wheel yet since there were very few of them produced at first, and now more are on their way but haven't arrived yet. So very soon you should see some new reviews with opinions and such. 👍

You mention it as if it's only advantage is a separate shifter.
Its a lot more than that; it has a separate H-shifter, which is what real cars use (whereas DFGT has a sequential shifter). Don't forget the clutch pedal with this steering wheel! :sly:

I can confirm that the wheel works well with GT5, F1 2010 and Dirt 1. There aren't many details unfortunately, just that it works well.

This is GT5 related (obviously) and what exactly happens is that if you press the gass pedal at the same time as the clutch pedal (even if only a little bit) then the car jams into neutral gear.

So far I've read that the force feedback with the 911 Carrera is strong. But again, no more details.

Hope I helped you a bit.:)

Thanks for the reply i think ill plunge for it on thursday. The clutch problem doesnt sound too bad, just hope its as good as I imagine it will be.

I can't break down the post (ala TomN) for iPod reasons.
1.Yes it is more realistic as you can place it on both sides and it is a H-Shifter (I have the wheel by the way). 1 thing is that if you plan on putting the shifter beside your knee (Playseat is an example) Get the 2€ 2.5m cable. The 30cm one is FAARRR too short.

2. Out of the games you mentioned, I only have GT5. It works really well but like on any other set, in endurance races, if you are using a clutch+H-gate, the car cannot move out of the pits (when you pit). Some sort of glitch. Apart from that, it is all good. (Im sure it supports the other games aswell as they support FFB wheels) Also, the clutch on GT5 isn't that realistic. But that is the game.

3. Force Feedback is different to vibration, it kinda just tells you how the car is doing (tires) sort of. If you are driving on dirt or snow, the wheel feels loose, on gravel, tarmac it doesn't. It is really hard to explain but it is strong and accurate on this wheel and gives a close feeling to the road (as in you dont feel like there is a gap between your car and the track).

Hope this makes ANYONE curious, make their minds up about the wheel.
