Porsche’s first off road model Cayenne has been on the market since winter 2002 and is now about to undergo a first major restyling, scheduled for release in 2007. In addition, a Hybrid version is said to be in the pipeline, developed in co-operation with VW and Audi. This one, however, for launch earliest in 2008.

Prototypes of the facelifted Cayenne have been photographed meanwhile during road testing in various places of the world in cold and hot weather as well as in the vicinity of Porsche’s home base Weißach.

These photos are showing for the first time the complete new front end with new headlights reminiscent of Porsche’s 911 (996) model. The new front skirt has different air intakes and spotlights in the corner of the air intakes.

At the rear end the car will get also bigger taillights, a new spoiler and a new bumper. The 4.5 litre V8 engine in the flagship Turbo model is said to remain unchanged, however, the 3.2 litre V6 will get upgraded with the new narrow-angle 280hp 3.6L Passat VR6.

The photos are showing a front-side view on which the front end tape has been stripped off by computer. One shot of the dashboard. Two shots of the new rear end with some tape for disguise.

I think it looks nice now.

Love the front. Got a real mean look on it now.

+1

But, it's illegal (at least in this state) to have more than 4 forward healight/foglight combination shining at once---hopefully one of those sets of front white lights are the brights. But yea, great looking facelift.

No worries. First of all, I'm sure Porsche would have it legalized everywhere, seeing as they sell so many of them, and second, its a blatant Photoshop on the light flares.

It really doesnt look all that different to me. I mean, sure, I can see the differences... But changing the headlights to the 996 guise isnt going to sell anymore Cayannes, as were on 997 now... Dont the Porscheophiles allready pissed off enough about this truck as it is?

Back could use a little more work, not a lot, just something to make it unique. The front is right mean though, love it.
