I know everyone wants porsche in Gt5.
But i wondered when does EA's exclusive license expire?
When it expires maybe PD could snatch it up and bring porsche to GT5.

Some rumors say this exclusivity deal ends this year and the Porsche gaming license will be up for grabs in 2012.

Let's keep the faith...

But if I'm not wrong it just 1 license, EA haze an BMW license and GT5 haze it too why can't they make 2 licenses 1 for EA and 1 for GT5?

Depends on the deal they make when getting the license. If the company wants exclusive rights ( like EA in this situation), they can sometimes do that by paying more. That or the company allowing the licensing, might be picky on who gets it, and end up only giving the rights to the company they feel most fit.

Ah, ok thanks. learned something when I'm not at school:dopey:

One thing that's annoying about ea's exclusive Porsche license is that they REALLY show off with it, on NFS hot pursuit, there's a lot of Porsche specialty events.

Begs the question though, what kind of relationship does EA have with Porsche, they have had the license for quite some time. That said, Porsche offers rights to many other hobbies and the companies that produce those products, just somehow the video game license is wrapped up tight by EA. Are deep pockets the sole reason??? I am not so sure. Would love to know the real reason. This franchise should have the license and its a shame they don't. There has to be something about this franchise that has Porsche execs put off.

Possibly, EA is one of the biggest video game companies in existence. PD and Turn 10 are both very small and only have one series each.

hah I'm probably THE only person on this forum who doesn't give a rats ass about Porsche. Never been a fan of their cars and tbh I'd much rather see more Ferrari's than Porsches. Just me though and I know 99.99% of you will disagree with me lol.
Gimme the three timeless Ferrari 250's, Testarossa, F50, 288 GTO, 599 GTO, 599XX, FXX, 360 Challenge Stradale, etc. and I will be one happy mofo :)

also, I heard the Aventador is licensed to EA too? please tell me that's false..

I love the timeless porsches that existed in the '60s-early '70s... The 908 longtail, the ungodly fast 917 (with the record for fastest lap at le mans). There's also the porsche gt1 cars that are on the same level as the McLaren f1 GTR and CLK GTR...

Also, the Aventador is not an exclusive... Forza 4 has it...

Porsche is scathed by what EA did to their cars in their games, so they don't want their cars in any game ever again.

^ I haven't seen it, but that's what I choose to believe :) However I do sort of remember back when the first NFS Shift came out, the porches were totally broken in the game, the front was jumping like a pimped ghetto ride on the flat tracks.

Based on if what you are saying is true. Porsche would then require 100% perfection of their cars with no chance of any mistake if it were to be in a future GT title.

I think EA may have priority over other companies to Porsche because NFS is more popular than Gran Turismo or Forza and there's the fact that NFS had a whole game dedicated to them and it is known for being one of the best if not the best NFS title. Besides, EA has more money than PD or T10 so they can offer more for exclusivity. Just my opinion.

If Porsche want perfection, then Mr.K is their man! BTW, does the 917-30 appear in any EA games? Or a 935K2, 956, 962, etc.

Why does anyone want the ugliest cars of all time in the game? The RUF's are bad enough.
(disclaimer, this is just my opinion)

Dey be trollin'!

What has appearance of a car to do with the driving experience of a car?

It's not about the brand, it's about the driving experience in general, as well as the history behind the brand.

Whether you like how they look or not, a Porsche is the ultimate road- and race car. I doubt that are many car enthusiasts out there who would not mention "Porsche 911" when asked for a car that offers the ultimate driving experience.

Honestly, if any of you can't come up with something better than "Them bug eyes look weird bro!" then go post on somewhere else.

Personally I don't see why we'd never get to see a Porsche in Gran Turismo. As mentioned, the license with EA ends in 2012 and seeing how beautifully rendered the Ferraris are, I wouldn't be surprised if a 911 made its way into GT5. As long as they try and create a decent engine sound for these cars in that case...

All I want to see is classic Porsche race cars like the 917 and the Martini Racing 911s. Of course, a few modern 911s and the Cayman wouldn't hurt(no Cayenne or Panamera though)

Well, the popularity thing does not really apply anymore. GT5, which is a PS3 exclusive, sold more than the last NFSs on all platforms combined.

Also, lets not forget that EA is a publisher, PD isn't. The publisher for GT5 is Sony, which happen to be a much bigger company than EA is.

Porsche could care less how accurate their cars are to real life in a game. They just care that their cars are being advertised through the game. Its all about money...

Personally, I don't want Porsches in GT5 because I'm not a fan and the assortment of RUFs is plenty for me. Lots of other cars I'd rather see. How about a Ford GT90? Or a Shelby Daytona Coupe? Or a SR Mustang Widebody Race Car?

If PD ever get the Porsche license and cranks out a Porsche DLC, they'll have my money ( and soul for that matter )

And please guys, let's not start another "brand hate fest". Some ppl like Ferraris ( and got well treated by GT5 imho ) other prefer Lambos ( which could have had a better tratment but decent none the less). Porsche fans (like myself) got jack squat, and I'd like to remind ppl that a RUF is not a porsche, they are "uber porsches" which would be ok if we had normal porsches to get used to the feel of a true high powered RR car ( a '67 fiat 500 is not a high powered car for that matter :P)

I think the trouble is companies like EA are willing to splash the cash to get supercars licensed and are ontop of the game in licensing the next models from manufacturers Sony and PD dont seem to be hence why we get hot hatches or remakes.
and for this reason I dont think we will se any new big name supercars for a long time.

I would love to see GT be able to add them if EA's contract is about to expire. Some of you who don't care for Porsche.., all I can ask is..., have you seen Porsche Race cars? There are some AMAZING Porsche Race Cars out there.

That other major racing game on that other major gaming console has one hell of a Porsche line up in their last title. Many great standard street models and some killer track models too. Unfortunately they too lost the line up with the latest title due to EA.

It would be great to see some Premium Porsche models as DLC. Personally I just understand why in the hell they didn't include the RUF line up as Premiums.
