Possible overlooked hint in GT5?

I just thought about this... do you think we would be able to drive in the pit lane and garage area in the game? In the beginning of the E3 trailer, it has the WRC and Japanese touring cars preparing for the race, and the stock cars rolling off of pit road to start the race? Do you think it may be a sign of the "full drivers experience" Kaz has been talking about all of this time? Or do you guys think it either is something that means nothing or the actions will be comp controlled? I did some research and noticed that the GT3 and GT4 E3 trailers did not have anything like this... but the PSP trailer also has something comparable to what we saw at E3... if this actually means something... it may be an incredible leap in the racing game genre!

I don't think we will be able to drive in the pit lane. Isn't there some gameplay footage from a show where they come out of the pits and then take control when it says go?

I'm keeping my feet on the ground now with GT5. There are so many good ideas that should be in the game but i'm thinking of it like GT4 but with better graphics then anything else that gets added is a bonus.

Driving freely in pitlane will cause too many problems. Speeding in pitlane, running over (or driving through) the pit crew would occur way too often.

We have already seen (TGS) videos of the SLS AMG using the automated pitting system.

This is what we should all be doing.

Too many of you think this is going to be such a deep and detailed game, when in reality it will be GT5p but with some more cars and tracks - that's it.

The more time you spend building up your expectations that this will be anything more than just another plug-n-play console racing game, the more you're gonna be disappointed.

The game will be a step over Prologue, even better graphics and total attention to details, Yamauchi-san knows what he is doing and I'm 100% sure that the game will be *****ing amazing, pit driving is a simple detail and simple to put in the game(just add a speed limitation device), so why they wouldn't do it?

There's no need for criticism about our expectations, because I'm one of those who really believe that might be someone in the PD staff who read this forum eventually and this person could discuss some ideas and trends posted here to the other PD staff members, maybe some of our requirements get to Sensei's hands. I truly believe that this is possible, and this is one of my motivations in writing here in this forum.

Keep writing brothers of GT, as we give more feedback to the game previews, we help PD build the fantastic game that >>almost<< all of us are eagerly waiting for.

The simple fact is, it doesn't really matter what they put into the game - it is still, at the end of the day, a matter of driving cars around tracks. That is the main element of the game, and that is the reason why it will be a disappointment for a lot of people expecting a huge amount more. All I want is Prologue with more cars and tracks. This is guaranteed, and then some, so I will be happy with whatever they produce, pit lane driving or not.

What I am trying to say is that Kaz is trying to likely create the "full drivers experience", and this sounds reasonable.

RE: The gameplay videos that has the "autopilot": possibly it could be a feature that can be turned on/off? To me, it seems like it may be something that may be able to be toggled...

RE: Speeding: Thats why they would implement penalties...

I don't think it'll ever be in a console game. It would be very easy to implement, but it simply wouldn't fit what a console game is. It wouldn't add anything to the game, and would just confuse people.

For the people who say they could put as an option, people have to remember that you don't want to have to spend half and hour configuring your console, and you want everybody to have more or less the same experience. Maybe a pc game it would be ok, but not a console game.

For the expectations people have, it's kinda the same as when the ps3 was released. People expected it to be the second coming and then were really disappointed it wasn't. So for GT5, we should expect a hell of a game, but we can't expect it to be better than reality.

I understand that implementing these features would be a possible addition to the game.
But what is your opinion on actually stopping in the pit area? You'll need to stop exactly in the correct place every time, without taking-out the lollipop man. Or what if your car is dangerously released in pit lane, into a passing car?
How could a fair penalty be determined as a result?

Too many issued like this is why I can’t see a non-automated system working.

It will be automated... for a start, how do you know which pitlane is yours? In Formula one you are assigned a pit garage and you have the same one all season for every race (Well you know, pit garage 1, 2 etc.)

Secondly, your speed will have to be limited anyway because a pit lane speeding penalty will be too complicated, so it may aswell be automated.

If I remember right the GT4 intro had basically the same setup. I hope that it is more than just cinematics though as presentation is always something that has lacked these types of games.

In my opinion, it should definetly be an option to have an automated pitting system or not. Yes, turning off the automatic system could be chaotic, but then again you would only turn it off when you -know- you're racing with friends and racers with good manners.

Regardless of whether you want to pull in to the pits or not should be the case, if you pull into the pit lane, regardless of what you want to do, you should HAVE to animated to the speed you're supposed to go.

I hope we can do it (referring to driving in pitlanes). Heck, even if it automatically took over when we got close to our garage, I'd still like to have control over the car before and after the event itself.

And of course I would like a button to map to the pit limiter (which would need to be available on all cars).

It's the same man that isn't sure that weather changes will add to the experience. Weather changes.

Even though that is what Kaz said, I think its a coverup, I just think that its hard to implement the feature while at the same time keeping the realistic graphics, and smooth frame rate. I just can't imagine anyone from PD thinking that dynamic weather might not add to the experience.

Looks like GT5 is going to be R18!🤬

It's funny that you said that, because it's actually what I was thinking when writing that post you replied to. However, the thought that I could get flamed for saying that Kaz may have been lying crossed my mind.

Pointless threads made just for the sake of posting, yes.

you do realise that actually the whole gran turismo is pointless too right ?

i dont mean to pick fights and i love gran turismo as much as everybody here, but like famine does when closing a thread i just dont like it when people question the point of something that actually has none but entertaining people. Did you hear skydiving was pointless ? well people do it too...weird

Dont sweat it bro, some people think they are Regulators or something, but i dont see a gavel in their hand.
Some people make pointless posts for the sake of posting or being self-righteous.

You right tho, GT is pointless so are video games in general, they bring nothing but entertainment to our lives:lol:.

I hope they give us control during pits, at least teach us manners, give us a chance to fail, but teach us the protocol and procedures for pitting. I always felt like pitting in was like strapping on training wheels.

OMG I have the perfect idea for pitstops

... Whenever you decide to go into the pits, you have to slow down accordingly to pit speed limit, before crossing the line. If you fail - drive thru penalty.

... from the point on where you crossed the line (i.e. entered pits), the car will be driven by CPU...

...after your pitstop is done (probably including refuelling, tire change, repairing), you will gain control over your car again so you can get the maximum out of pit exit... if you fail here (speed limit, crash), you'd get also a drive thru penalty... so if you had one from entering pits already that would add up to a stop and go - penalty...

Sounds complicated, but wouldn't be so hard to implement in the end. 👍

What you think?
