Cool, lots of new members here lately. Yeah, GT2 is all messed up cuz they rushed it out to make mad cash for the Christmas '99 season. The classic story is that Sony made Polyphony Digital release the game before it was properly debugged. We (the public) became the beta testers! I also think that at the time, they knew PS2 would be out in a year or so, so they were putting more energy into developing GT3 and making it look good...making sure it worked properly, b4 anyone else could claim the market on sim racing games for that system.

The 2nd race @ Tahiti Maze is an oddity. In version 1.0 of GT2, they didn't program it right. The Peugeot 206 would drive, crash into a wall and never finished the rest of the race. When they remade the game (version 1.1 and 1.2) they fixed this bug, but DAMN this race is actually hard! It's one of the hardest races in GT2---on par with the 2nd Hitoric run against the GT40. There seem to only be a handful of cars that'll beat it. I tried an '95 Acura Integra'98, a Civic type R, and a fully-powered '98 Impreza WRX type R version V coupe and lost by a landslide! Finally, the Ford Focus Rally car did the trick, but i only won by a few hairs. Guess i shouldn't complain, huh? I finally get what i want: an advanced race.

So thats why that race was so easy for me

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but on my game atleast, in arcade mode, the races for S class cars (the fastest) sometimes contain a Renault Clio V6!

Yeah, that one shows up alot in arcade. It's slow as hell, too...kinda like the Civic Racer in GT1. GT2 arcade has a limited # of cars that are programmed in: the Aston Vantage V8...the [R] modified Shelby Coupe are also guaranteed competition. Gets kinda boring racing those same cars over and over, that's why i hardly ever go on the arcade disc. The Event Simulator is much more fun & varied, sometimes it's tougher, too.

Truthfully, the Clio deserves to be in the S-class. If you modify it, it's mid-engine layout + stocky shape & short wheelbase make it unique to drive...the problem is, the Arcade Clio is running on stock power. It hasn['t been modified, and this means it wins the slowpoke award everytime!

My Mazda RX-7 is 95 inches off the ground in the back, and 85 off in the front. It says inches instead of millimeters

Yah, isn't that retarded? Did you know there are 3 versions of GT2? The first one was full of misspelled words and phrases that didn't make sense, as well as the ground clearance which they didn't convert from metric to standard. Then when they made versions 1.1 and 1.2 (greatest hits) they cleaned up most of the misspells, took care of some bugs, but left the ground clearance the way it was! doh!

The unit conversions weren't done properly (105 inches of ground clearance! )!
JGTC Skylines are 4WD but were FR in real life.
Race cars are equipped with road tires by default.
Races like the station wagon and luxury car races don't actually restrict car type.
'70 Cuda has styling of '71 model
'72 Challenger has styling of '70 model
'71 Road Runner is called the "Plymouth Muscle Car"
PD has apparently failed to realize that the '60s muscle cars were rated in bogus gross horsepower, and used their gross-horsepower power ratings, not their actual horsepower
Standard XJ220 is referred to as a "race car"
R390 GT1 was never black in real life

i found another car that changes names when its modded. in case you didnt see the first one, the citroen saxo changes to the saxo f2 kit car. last night i saw that the VW New Beetle 2.0 changes to the New Beetle GLS 2.0, im not sure but i think it does this when you get the race mod

The info page for the Toyota TRD 3000GT goes on and on about how this prize car is a Supra with racing gear on it, including FULLY MODIFYABLE downforce. But when you go to drive it, you can't modify its downforce! :0

yeah thats annoying on alot of cars like that, such as the imprezas and lancers that have adjustable spoilers in real life but not in the game

Hey did you know that the cuda is not a 1971 cuda it is a 1972 because of the tail lights.

What about the Plymouth ‘Muscle cAr?’ IRL, Plymouth never released anything with such a generic name...it's actually called the Roadrunner.

Also, during a race, if you pull off to the side of the road and let the AI drive by, you'll eventually not be able to hear them as they get further down the track...but during hte replay, you can hear them way in the distance, no matter how far they are!

is anyone here exremely annoyed, like me, by the sound of a fully modded honda civic?? it gives me a headache if i hear it for more than a few minutes at a time, not to mention it sounds completely weak

It doesn't annoy me, but yeah, it doesn't sound right. Civics should have a phat sound, judging by what i've heard on Speedvision TV. Racing a Civic is like holding a jackhammer if you've got vibration on in your dual shock!

Yeah, a jackhammer that sounds like a buzz bomb...

I just did the 5 event generator races in a Shelby Series 1. My final track was SS Route 5. When i was practicing, it seemed something was funny. The Shelby's lights weren't on! But during the actual race, they were.

yesterday i was doing the 30 lap enduro at trial mtn and i noticed that on the straight before the last chicane the road goes all the way to the walls, but if you look in your rearview mirror you see grass on the far right side

The '84 Skyline RS-X spec sheet says (this isn't exact but close enuff) that when the Skyline sport coupe was reintroduced in the 80's it was offered with a twincam and a turbo and made about 180 hp. The RS-X was the top model, added an intercooler, and was supposed to make just over 200hp. However, the game RS-X only has 180ish hp, meaning that it's not really an RS-X!
