Alright this is weird, just got back home, since work was cancelled and there is no electricity at all but wifi is still working. So is anybody that isn't in San Diego but in SoCal have no electricity?

Hmm, I guess I should have mentioned that I lost power for an hour or so during the hurricane a couple days ago. But I'm nowhere near SoCal.

Power outages happen everywhere at one time or another, and isn't particularly newsworthy unless an entire region is blacked out for days or something.

Might as well post about what you just bought, or just ate.

Oh wait....

^Hey! Power was out on parts of two American states, A whole Mexican state and a third of another Mexican state for 6 hours. I was affected, and it sucked how they initially told us this was gonna last two days.

Um, no. Thousands of miles from the the hurricane, and days afterward.

Unless you're referring to Tropical Storm Lee and not Hurricane Irene, but it's still thousands of miles away.

Gonna have to throw away a good portion of the food in my fridge now… power was out here for about 10 hours. Although right now I’m probably more concerned that I was drinking tap water at the time, and because the cell data networks were jammed I didn’t realize that there had been a boil-water alert for my area due to sewage contamination. Guess I should know by this afternoon whether I got some buggies.

Seeing ALL of SD completely blacked out was really weird. And dangerous… I was trying to drive last night and everybody was running through stoplights because you forget where some of the smaller intersections are and you can’t see any pedestrians unless they’re already within the scope of your headlamps.

And their wasn't a police unit at these intersections?

It was a mistake by an employee.

"The Arizona Power Service described the cause of the blackout as an "employee generated event," saying in a statement that an employee was replacing equipment at a substation near Yuma"

There were police at a few of the larger intersections, but I think most of the on-duty police were dealing with emergencies.

[edit]: Surprised at how well everything held up at work, considering none of our lab stuff was on backup power. I thought for sure at least the non-frost freezer and my tissue culture fridge would both be screwed, but looks like they remained relatively adiabatic.

Yea this was the biggest power outage I've ever been in. It was actually kind of cool living it rough for a day but the powers back on where I'm at so no biggie.

It was actually a cool experience. It was easy enough to have a good reason to go to a friends house since he was holding up a pool party and that going to sleep late was ok since school was cancelled the next day. :) Also gazing at the stars was amazing last night. Too bad its like a one time scenery with no lights on the way.

But yeah power is back on. 👍

According to a friend of mine, he had no electricity since yesterday morning because of this. Was only in National City at first and then just one employee...

The black out IMO was a good thing. It brought ppl back together. Ppl were out walking kids were out playing. Not sitting inside playing gt5 for a change. And the night sky was beautiful with out the city lights.
