I want to know if you guys prefere driving a car that weighs alot but has stupid ammuonts of power? (eg, Mercedes Sl65 AMG, 999BHP, 1683Kg) Or a light weight car with fairly low power? (eg, Lotus Motorsport Elise, 350BHP, 637Kg)

what do you like best?

what car do you use?

(name, power, weight)
:sly:

a car with low power and low weight its more fun that way well thats what i believe its a challenge and makes for exciting racing

Mid range power with low weight, that's what I prefer, good for tearing around the circuits without too much worry of weight holding me down or too much power sending the car flying with it's weight.

Around 900-1100Kg does it for me, power varying from 300-450

i like low weight cars due it the fact that you can leave stock brakes on and it will still stop and the fact that it will handle better and also that you can have an average amount of horsepower. The heavy cars need more braking power, more power or it would feel sluggish, and its not as responsive

How about one of the most balanced cars ever created? I'll take an FD3S RX-7 over ANY heavy car any day. Just give the car about 330-350hp and leave the suspension stock and you're ready to roll on a '91 Type R. Or if you want, go out and buy a brand new Spirit R, boost her up to 639 horses, trick out the tranny, and start setting lap records. I have a killer tune for the Spirit R.

Low weight always wins, at least in my book.

Light weight: around 1300-1600kg
Power: 220-280hp
Drivetrain: FR

hmm.....this sounds very similiar to a car...Oh yes...the BMW 330i :)

Personally I would never call that Lightweight.

For me sub 1000kgs is lightweight, and would be my preference. Lightweight and a resonable amount of power, fun all the way.

Scaff

In the end, lightweight (that'll be sub 1000kg for me too) will be my choice, but I do like to take cars like the M5 or the Aston Martins for a spin...

I go with light cars, with a bit of grunt to get some speed going, most lighter cars are very fun to drive, and I always end up with more A-Spec points than when racing heavier, more powerful cars.

Lightwieght all the way...without too much power. Take the caterham for example...The car is quick even tho it doesnt have much power but its lightweight body and chassis sucumbs for that.

I like stuff under 1100kg, which is right around 2420 lbs. The lighter you go, the better. Whoever it was who said 1300kg to 1600kg is light has an interesting perspective, that's akin to 2860l bs (relatively light) to 3520 lbs (not quite so light anymore.) Most people that I talk to express the belief that anything under 3000 lbs is relatively light, at least by today's construction and engineering standards. Of course vehicles like Caterhams, Lotus 7 replicas, and Elises are MUCH ligher, but that's just the joy of excessively low weight. 'Tis a good thing indeed.

I like light cars with a reasonable amount of power, 1000ish kg with 150-300bhp.

I also like cars like the DB9 and the M3 (and M5), because to me they handle as though they weigh a lot les than they actually do.

I like 800-900 kg and 600-1000hp. :sly: Simply Group c or LMGTP's; I avoid cars with more than 1100 kg.

But the best thing would be a 620KG and 840 hp (Toyota-7).

its got to be lightweight less powerful cars for me because although they dont have the power i always seem to be able to take on heavy powerful cars because on the bends i seem to handle better than the heavier cars and keep at a higher speed then can accelerate out of the bends earlier and manage to put a gap between us and then keep increasing the gap

at the moment i am using a 1120 bhp(there abouts) playstation pescerolo which correct me if im wrong weighs 900kg (using this to do superspeedway enduro)

Lightweight, modest power, no tires (Economy Tires, or N1s).

Not for racing, but for pure fun. That's an Alpine A110 (880kg, 140+ hp) or a BMW 2002tiit (1000+kg, 168hp) on any track in the game. Makes you learn to appreciate early turn-in, proper braking, proper racing lines, and delicate control. And if you get it wrong? deliberate and graceful powerslides.

Duhhh I though Caterham was one of those cars you cannot participate in races with...

Duhhh who said anything about participating in races? The question was what people prefer driving.

I prefer light cars, but not to light, I like the Renault Clio Phase II with stage 3 weight reduction, and stock TVR 350C etc.

i also prefere a lightweight car with low power. i have a pair of elises (a motor sport and a sport 190) those are some of the best cars i have. and neither weighs over 700kg or puts out over 350bhp! you just don't have to slow down for corners at all most of the time. quick as hell:sly:
