So I finally built my computer, there is one really annoying and potentially dangerous problem. So each time I turn my PC on and it boots, the PSU fan starts to spin, but when it spins up it sounds as if its hitting a wire. It's this extremely loud clicking noise. (When I say loud I mean you can hear it across the house if the TV is turned off)

When it starts clicking it'll spin for a few minutes and then stop. This is where it gets dangerous. I can tell the PSU is getting warm because it wants to spin off, but it stops whenever it clicks. I'm worried it will fry itself. I can't see it hit anything, and when I push the fan it doesn't click. Sometimes it'll do it's thing for an hour and then stop, but sometimes it continues. As I said I can't see it hit anything but the problem seemed to stop when I turned it on its side...

Does anyone have any suggestions? I believe I have a Corsair HX650 PSU. I am still in the warranty, but the problem is that I have all my wires connected and everything, so replacing the power supply means I have to go in, cut the zipties and replace everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be there's a jumper in the power supply board that is making the clicking noise.

**edit** It just dawned on me that this was discussed already.

At this point, i'd call Corsair and see what they say. Worst case scenario (and this is why I don't use zipties and such), you have to remove the power supply. Hopefully they'll only want the PSU and not the cables which would make things a lot easier on you.

Not that. I just recorded a video of it.

That is the sound, and it is much, much louder.

..Holy balls!

It could be the fan is hitting the mesh guard at the top due to the fan wobbling. I'd definitely call Corsair at this point.

Yeah sounds like the fan blades are hitting the metal. I'm also reading the reviews on this and everyone is reporting the same problem. If you can I'd recommend getting a refund for it(I'm willing to bet that you bought it from newegg as you can get a full refund within the 30 days of purchase) and getting a different brand or model.

So I should go ahead and remove all my cables and either get a replacement or a new Power Supply?

It sounds like a problem from the factory so I would remove the cables, get the refund, and buy a different brand PSU such as this one. It's a very good PSU made from quality parts and comes with a 5 year warranty. I've read reviews from PSU testers and the capstone line is a very good product to depend because of the stable power delivery.
