i was just wondering which car do you guys think has the best power to weight ratio..lighter car wit less hp vs more hp more weight...

Well, a car with 1000BHP that weighs a tonne will have the exact same power to weight ratio as a car with 500BHP that weighs half a tonne. The car that only weighs half a tonne will almost always handle better though.

so what cars in gt5 do you think has a good power to weight ratio? right now im using the rx7 FD3S! its so awsome when it comes to drifting

Do you mean is a lighter or a heavier car better? or Which car in the game has the best power to weight ratio?

Yeah f1 cars, couple good downforce and its a ****ing crazy fast Go-Kart.

Does everyone remember the Suzuki - Escudo Pikes Peak from gt3? 1880bhp, 900kg and the downforce glitch. 100% downforce on the rear no downforce on front. It did a wheely on the test track and went 1800km/h

I wonder if that just flips you and turns you into a ball of fire now.

it did NOT have 1880 hp. It had 987 hp

The Tommy Kaira ZZII is probably one of the most underrated cars in the game.
550 BHP and 1000kg, and that's before any upgrades or weight reduction.
As an added bonus, the ZZII is a beauty to look at.

Do not confuse the ZZII with the ZZS. The ZZS is what you win for B license.

The Escudo can actually fly on GT5. I have proof!

lol, I did that.

Needed a powerful MR car for something, didn't want to spend any money so I looked up the prize car list, thought I can gold the B license easily enough, did that, then got that stupid ZZS instead :ouch:

I should point out though, the ZZS probably isn't a bad car at all but it's not in the same class as the ZZII and wasn't nearly enough car for what I wanted at the time.

EDIT: and for the OP, the power/weight ratio of a car isn't subjective, it's just a number that can give you a rough idea (to a point) of what kind of car you are dealing with.

Power is better for top speed, lightness for everything else. Which is faster depends on the track. If you have two cars with the same ratio, my gut says light will win. They have to be on the same tires and everything, of course.

Tis strange that PD didn't include p/w as a method of sorting the cars in the garage. That said, they missed a lot of obvious small-but-convenient features.

there is a database out there that claims the Toyota 7 Race Car '70 has the best (at 948 w/kg); of course this is not counting the X1

Just remember that power to weight isn't everything. Would you rather have a 4000 lb car with 800 hp or a 2000 lb car with 400 hp? The power to weight ratio is the same, but depending on the track you'll get completely different results. Say you are on an oval. You get a lot more top speed out of the 4000 lb car, as the raw power will help and drag areas aren't typically scaling directly with weight.

A good example is the Bugatti Veyron. Try getting anything out of that car at the Nürburgring, :nervous:

I agree, the ZZS is a very capable car in its own accord. I think that was my second most used car early on in GT life.

ZZS is no ZZII though. ;)

For street cars the Mclaren F1 with all modifications had a pretty impressive ratio. 1.1kg:1kw from memory. Car was pretty driveable too so long as you kept it above 3rd gear.

The ZZII is 4WD not MR, so would have been bugger al use to you anyway

I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet of all my cars and their specs, including power-weight ratio. So far I have something like 170 cars, and the top ten are:

MAKE MODEL YEAR HP WGT RATIO
Gran Turismo Formula Gran Turismo 936 550 1.702
Toyota Toyota 7 Race Car 1970 933 620 1.505
Toyota MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V Race Car 1989 1040 850 1.224
McLaren McLaren F1 1994 863 970 0.890
Ferrari Enzo Ferrari 2002 922 1044 0.883
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 2009 1256 1424 0.882
Pagani Zonda R 2009 927 1070 0.866
Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Race Car 1998 858 1000 0.858
Mazda Furai Concept 2008 560 675 0.830
Shelby Cobra 427 1966 756 918 0.824

This list covers a lot of different types of cars too: Race cars, street cars, European, Japanese, and a muscle car. I've found that the power-weight ratio is overall the best indication of how a car will perform

Power to weight ratio is in the tuning section in the 2nd tab. (See the tabs at the far right)

Best one I have now is the FGT. Still grinding away to buy a X2010

Tigermilk: The best example is the Jay Leno Tank car. What a beast.
