Pr Race Driver (Hey vatman, get'cher butt in here)

So Pro race driver came out today for the Ps2, and it's been something I've been wanting for quite some time.
Ign (giver of great reviews to companies that advertise the most) gave it a 9.3 and I was just wondering if this was worth it.
I think it was released in PAL markets as Toca Racing or Toca Race driver.

Wait for the PC version, (vat would say that) because looking back at the game in retrospect it wasnt that good at all. The initial cars handling is dodgy, the graphics are very patchy in some places and the frame rate does drop allot. Although there are upsides, for example there are allot (and I mean allot) of tracks and they are all real race tracks (nurburgring, sears point, bathurst, donnington, to name a few) and the handling does improve on the higher spec cars. There is also the dammage, competitive AI that will take revenge on you occasionally and 12 cars on the track.

The PC version is meant to have 16 cars on the track, it will probably look better, handle better and be easily moddable.

Get it on the PC.

I agree. It might be worth a rent in PS2 form, but I would nominate this game as 'Most Disappointing 2002 PS2 Release'.

It will be easier to deal with the weird handling (particularly with the GT Force) on the PC2 - the main issue was the lack of weight, but also it didn't seem to re-align correctly after a turn - odd stuff. The PC version will probably look better, too.

Yep, i agree with that. Wait for the PC Version! :| Rent Pro Race Driver because you will finish it after about 5 hours.

yep, about 30 AU Dollars cheaper here (I think) when it comes out.

The demo for PC is fun. Great control and graphics and physics.

I bought it for Ps2 on friday and im happy with it all around. The graphics are very clean, gameplay is good and driving the cars is great as far as handling etc. I say go buy it for PS2, you won't be dissapointed.....

I could get it for christmas if i wanted but i can't find it anywhere to rent. I wanna try it before i decide. I'm getting mixed opinions from people who've played it and I wanna here from someone who bought it, is it REALLY worth a purchase? I don't understand how anyone could be done with it after 5 hours of gameplay cause isn't multiplayer supposed to be pretty good. I know me and my brother always had good times playing the old toca on psx. But anyways, from someone who's bought it, do you think it's REALLY worth the purchase and maybe a litle bit on whyor why not.

Well as long as you enjoyed the old toca games then you'll love it. I couldn't find it anywhere to rent either but i figured that it has to be fun because of the RPG like approach to it so i bought it and i love it. I personally don't see how or why you would want to beat it in 5 hours, enjoy the game :thumbsup:
