Prize Car Un-Obtainable

Hello, i just wanted to know if anyone else has the same problem as i do. When ever i win any sieries of races at the end when i am supposed to get the prize car the background music does not play and the car does not show. Also if i press X to continue my Playstation2 freezes. I just ant to add that i have the old ps2 not the slim one. Thank You for you time.

To the OP:

Sounds like a laser problem. Search here for the terms "DRE" or "disc read error". It is possible to celan/adjust the laser on an older PS2 to make it work again, if you are a little mechanically inclined.

Tilting it on an angle, ejecting and putting back in the disc, try it all.

Are you getting the red circle? I had this happen. Cleaned my lazer, cleaned my disc. Tilted the PS2 slim on its side. Banged on it. Dropped it (from a safe distance of a couple inches). Opened the door while the disc was still in and closed it again. All of this helped but eventually the problem got worse and worse till finally it was just the red circle and nothing would help.

What I finally did was went ahead and bought a brand-new GT4 disc (my previous one was used and the new ones came down in price to $19.95). Haven't had a red circle since June of 2006.

This is a duplicate thread.
Your original, which you've now edited suggested your PS3 was freezing, and was posted in the GT4 Race Reports forum.
Consequently it was moved to the PS3 forums to see if we could get you any help.
I now notice that you edited your original post to say "PS2", but instead of following the advice I gave and moving that thread back to the GT4 main forum, you've left a question about PS2 in the PS3 forum, and come back here to make another thread about the same thing.
Please don't clutter the boards like this. 👎

As far as the freezing issue goes, can you give us some more details?
Which series specifically does it freeze after? Is it all series or just one in particular? Does it do it after the endurance races too?

It's only ever happened to me once, after the 2 hr 45 min Infineon World Sports Car Race, and has never happened again. I too have the old style PS2, but I use a lens cleaning CD in it regularly.
Check your GT4 disk for scratches, particularly on the label side and try running a cleaning CD through your PS2.
