Prize cars

I would like to win prize cars that will work for a certain race. I dont understand the logic of spending the money to buy then tune a car for, say a car make race only to win the same car. Why not give me a car I can use in another "make" specific race.

Gran Turismo's prize system needs an overhaul. The prizes in GT4 were at some points terrible.

First off, I do not want to race a one-make series only to win the exact same car again, especially becasue I despise many of the one-make races. I do not like the Subaru 360. Winning one in WR Mica blue will NOT make me like it. What good is the prize car if you are gauranteed to already own it because it's the only car eligle for that race? It's not good, it's just a duplicate that may not sell for much money at all. I don't like racing a car to only win it again. Some cars can even be won twice, like the Nike2022 (GT4) or the Mazda 787B (GT3). Again, we don't need duplictes!

Secondly, I would like to see a return of the randomized car prizes. Having the chance to win a different car each time you race increases the event's re-play value, as you don't know what you may win. However, the random pprize sstem needs improvement. In GT3, most races had 4 possible cars, usually of the smame class, like 4 JGTC's, or 4 hatchbacks. However, some were not even. The European series series had the prizes of a Lotus Elise, Nissan Skyline, Gillet Vertigo Race Car, or a Mini Cooper. The variety is terrible, a Class C, to Class As and a LeMans car? The Vitz race was another poor one. You had the chance to win a JGTC Supra, but you had a 75% of winning... another Vitz :indiff:. Even the GT2 enduros gave you a slim chance at a fantastic race car, with a great probability of just winning a rally car. If random prize cars are re-introduced, all the prizes for a particular race need to be equal, i.e. 4 Class Cs, 4 rally cars, 4 LMPs. None of this "1 good car, 3 lemons" Polyphony has been giving us so far.

Prize cars are one of the main incentives to race in Gran Turismo. Let's see some better incentive.

I HATE it when you win a car that you can't race or sell for any cash! It's so stupid!

Gimme a car I can use and I'm happy!

+1 to all the above.

With the stiff competition which GT5 is going to face, I'm hopeful that much of these types of grouches will be amply dealt with.

How about the option of taking the cash instead of the car so you do not need to go and spend the next 3 minutes button hopping to sell the car.

I also forgot:
Don't give us worthless prize cars. Just because it's a concept car doesn't mean people wouldn't pay money for one. They're worth something.

oh, and, don't give me a car I already have unless it's in a color I don't have. or, give me my choice of color. It's my car, after all.

thank you.

I'd like the random thing.. What I think I'd like even more would be a prize system like that of the present licence tests. The better you do, the better the prize car. It could be reflected by ASpec points. 1 to 50 points = C Class Car or Equal class cars to those in the series. 51-100 points = One level up. 101-150 = Two Levels Up. 151-200 points = F1/LeMans. It's time to reward those that play this game for challenges and not simply B Spec through the game to get cars... Or work in conjunction with licence race class. You start out doing the Sunday Cup in A, get a car, Sunday Cup B, get a different car better then the last... and so on until you get to super licence and unlock the F1/LeMans cars... Do that for every race in the game with special models for each type (FF, FR, N/A) or Company Race and you've got tons of replay value... and prize cars...

oh, suure, give me ANOTHER reason to use my Gameshark. I'm trying to kick that habit, dammit.

I don't really agree with NOT getting concept cars as prize cars....some of them are super cool to drive like the Nissan GT-R concept (Tokyo Show) or the Nuvolari Quattro, or the Cadillac Cien; you CAN use them and they look awesome in your garage. As we all know, you can't sell 'em or buy 'em but it's nicer to win them than having to buy them if we could do so.
They only thing I don't like is getting them twice :indiff: , that gives me a royal pain in the a**.
Like someone said before, we should get cars that we can use on another race where it requires specific limitations..i.e: I started GT4 with no Memory of my GT3, so I had to start the old way, and after winning the FF Challenge or the 4WD CHallenge, I thought I was going to get a roadster or a truck to win the other ones..but I didn't and it pissed me off a little bit, but it was cool...u know, but it'd be nice if PD could think about this.

Just my 2 cents.

Caio....

Agreed.

PD had their collective noggins up thier backsides with that stupid idea (and they started that nonsence in GT3, no examples of it in GT/GT2).

Again, agreed...but at least the lesser car gave you some reason to race again and again (and again). It's really boring to know exactly what you're going to win.

Oh, and while I'm at it; none of that GT3's "you-can-only-win-it-once" junk; unless it's for a one-time-only achievement.

And no more "credit-less" prize cars, they just take up space.

I know, except for the Mitsubishi HSR-II! I used that (Modded a bit) for the Clubman Cup, and it owns the other cars. A keeper.

But the Toyota MTRC, is useless. Terrible.

Im so very happy to see others posting on this...thanks for helping me feel that im not the only one with these thoughts. i would like to win a car for doing a license that is for a race. not some lame car to sell. you have to get a license to progress in the game, right? ok then, give me a car for a race so i can progress! and NO MORE novelty cars! if your going to give me a car that cant be bought then let me sell it for a good price to help the game.

ps most of us have started way back with GT, am i the only one that would like to by-pass the whole license procedure?

For the manufacturer races, why don't they do it like in GT2? You don't win a car, you get money instead.
Either that or winning a racing version of the car. Now that would've make alot more sense.

What's happened to the license test prize cars? They've gotten worse and worse as the GT Series has progressed. A Model T for all golds in the S license? :grumpy: I was expecting something good like a Minolta 88-CV or a 787B. The next GT needs a major overhaul in the prize car department, not just in the license hall, but also in the rest of the game.

I hear you... I was so disapointed the first time I got that car that I wanted to quite the game... I mean, like it's not like it's exactly easy to get now, is it? I mean with all of the great cars out there that are in this game, and not prize cars, the least they could have done was give us something really sweet, like an F1 or something...

I wish it was like the first GT again, where you won GT LM edition cars. Like the CRX Del Sol LM, awesome. I also don't see the point of having 18th century cars in GT4, which aren't worth anything anyway, and I also don't see the point of concept cars not being worth anything.
I hope its a big overhaul for GT5.
