Hello everyone, first time posting.. might not be the right section of the forum but please redirect the thread if so..

Well, i've been playing for 10 hours in total since launch and been saving and everything has been all nice and dandy..

Then i left my PS3 on with the game running to go and talk a friend of mine came back and the PS3 had turned off as it usually does for me when i'm not doing anything with it..

I started the game as usual (Got the 15th anniversary edition) with 20cars, 1m credits etc etc.

Started the game and got a prompt about me getting the 15th anniversary gear and the million credits (note: i've already gotten these when i started the game the first time..) so now i went from 163.000 credits to 1.16m credits... And i thought (huh, how odd.. well must be a bug.)

Got into the game menu everything looked normal except for the huge jump in credits.. Went to check my garage and it said (you have no cars) and it the top corner where it says what car im using right now it said Lancia Delta Integrale (the one i was using prior to the PS3 shutdown).

I thought.. must be another bug, just gonna buy a car and try to get in to the garage, must be a bug.

Got into my garage which used to have 30+ cars.. now it only has the car i bought. The only cars left are the ones in the Stockyard which is 12 cars.

Checked my stats and it says 0% completion of the game. But it still had all my wins and my 10hrs of game time. I remeber having completed 30+% of the game when i last checked..

Checked the events to see if my raceweekends where still won. Every race weekend was wiped.. no won race weekends but i still have access to Novice, Amatuer and National A events...

IS THERE ANYWAY.. THAT I CAN GET MY S*** BACK.. 10hrs of playing that's all gone to waste... :'(

Can anyone help?

Here's picture proof of what's happened..

Well, there's a strange option in the game settings that can theoretically recover lost data, but I never saw it working.

Give it a try, can't hurt.

EDIT: As far as I remember, it's where the settings for the installation data is.

Just gave it a shot.. Took like a second and "Nothing salvageable"..

I'm so bummed right now..

Ehm...

If you quit the game and delete the savegame, an invisible backup save should become visible. After that restart GT6 and pray, although I wouldn't have high expectations if I were you.

Because normally it updates the backup every time you start GT6, means it probably updated the backup with the faulty data. But again, it can't hurt.

Did as you said.. And just when i was about to delete the saved data i copied it over to my USB stick just to be safe. Deleted the saved data looked at the backup and it said Abarth 500 (which was the new car i bought) so i knew it was all lost..

Loaded up the backup went in... didn't help..

But the good news is that i can still play the National A races and i still have my license and i've got 1m credits now so all hope is not lost..

What i can do is just continue to play National A and just proceed even though all earlier races and cars are gone. But still, i had alot of cool cars and it's gonna look friggin' weird with me playing National A races without ever winning an Novice or Amateur race before..

This sucks so bad.. Is there anyway that i can talk to Polyphony and get them to check my saved data and maybe fix it or is that just not gonna happen?.. I mean.. I really reeaaally don't want to do all that boring stuff again but i still want it to be visible that i've done it. And all the cars i had... God damn it.

dr_slump thanks for your fast replies and your help! It gave me some hope..

Best regards, Florian

Always leave the system Auto-Off in you PS3 settings. Because I never have the PS3 set to 1 or 2 hours to turn it self off because you can lose a 1 or 2 hours of good work good by.

I don't think they'd ever do this, no, never.

You say you got the anniversary cars? You can reinstall them on your own. Although I think you'd have to create a new savegame to do so...

From now on we should all make separate backups, the game seems to have some major flaws.

That would have been a better scenario in my case.. 1 to 2hrs i could deal with..

But thanks for the tip, i turned it off now.. That powersave function is the most moronic s*** i've every encountered.. Couldn't they atleast made it so that before the PS3 turns off it would actually make an extra save just incase?..

Thanks for the tip once again.. Didn't think about it and now you've saved me from what could have been another one of these disasters.

Best regards, Florian

I can't.. the game says i've redeemed my codes all ready.. (when i deleted both the backup and the saved data just to try) it loaded in all the 20 cars and everything but i reverted to my old broken saved data because i didn't want to loose the progress..

So what i'll do is just continue and pray to god that the game doesn't realize that something weird is going on and completely demolish my saved data because of some missing stuff like won race weekends and stuff like that.

Yep.. totally gonna backup everything here on forwards just to be on the safe side.. You should make a sticky about this so that this doesn't happen other people. Because this is a serious blow to anyone who have devoted hours to the game..

(FYI: i love the game it's awesome, it's a real big step up from GT5.. This is just unfortunate stuff even though i almost threw my PS3 out the window..)

Best regards, Florian.

Happened to me but in a different way. I had start over and got my Anni cars back.

Game semi froze on me when starting the 1st race in the GT Compact Car Championship race. I say semi froze because I could hear the noise from the game like the cars driving around the track and I could also bring up the screen to quit the game. Gave it around 5 mins to see if it was going to go and it didn't. So I figured I'll just quit the the game and load it back up. So I did and when I got back it said I needed a update for the game that took about 30 seconds. I was in a S2000 and it still said I was in a S2000, but if I tried to click on anything it said I needed to get in a car. I had 144k so I bought a car, but when I looked at my garage all of my cars were gone except the one I just bought. All of the races I unlocked previously were still unlocked including the Goodwood, Lunar Exploration, all Novice, National B, and National A races, but they didn't have any stars like I never raced them.

I tried everything to get it to work, but it didn't. I learned that when you quit the game like I did it automatically makes a backup of the point you quit so both my save and backup save had the problem. It wouldn't be so bad, but it took my 15th Anni cars also. To get them back I had to start all over again and erase that save completely.

Same thing happened to me, except I actually turned my game off normally and then turned it on later last night. I received a notification about the gear and paint again (never got the 1 million credits, never knew that was a thing) and when I was in my Focus 15th AE and had $230,000 it claimed I had no car. Basically the same thing that happened to you, happened to me. Bout a Silvia to see if it would fix anything, but it didnt. Tried loading backup file, same thing. Tried re-downloading the 15th AE cars but all I got back was the suit and the paint. I also posted this on the PSN forums on GT6 issues but got no response.

We need a sticky thread to warn people about this.. People need to copy the backups after everytime they've played just to be on the safe side... This seems like a serious issue and it sucks to loose everything.

just got bit by a similar issue too: I have two master PSN IDs on my PS3 (a GTP_ one and my old normal one), installed GT6 played for a bit in both then shut down. Turn on, play for a while in my normal ID, everything's fine, redeem the anniversary cars, everything ok (although I had to 'update' the images for them as they wouldn't show otherwise), switch to my GTP_ id to do the licenses so I can race online and GT just hangs at the 'warning' screen

After a good 10 min I push on the PS button and 'quit' the game, PS3 reboots and when it comes back tells me it didn't shut down properly and it will check for disk corruption (yikes, never ever happened to me), I let it finish, retry again GT6 with my GTP_ account, same deal, stuck forever at the 'warning' screen (with the dots at the bottom going), decide to select 'turn off system' just to be safe(r), PS3 turns off, turn it back on and again warning about corruption and check the hd (yikes again).

At this point I just deleted the GTP_ save and GT6 started up fine, so it was probably something with the save that somehow happened after redeeming the anniversary cars on my 'main' master account (it hung at the same point where on the 'master' account it said that I was granted the cars/suit/chips)

Despite having PS+ I will be definitely be making a lot of backups of the save(s) as it does seem there's some bugs going on with GT6 currently.

I've had the same issue;
  • Anniversary Edition
  • Select language
  • All cars gone - but "details" remain eg. top speed
I do have PS+, which had my previous days save file, which was only eight or so races before where this happened - so I happily re-did them, rather than do the ~140 races again. I've exited and done stuff around the house etc... I've fired up GT6 again and it's asked me to "Load Back-up" so I click OK, and it's taken me back to the previous days save file. So for the third time I've done the races.

So I saved (again) and uploaded my save to PS+. I've come home and it's asked me if I want to load from back up...

Which is the previous days save file - not the one I've re-done twice, but the PREVIOUS DAYS SAVE FILE.

I'm not keen on doing the same thing AGAIN for what (it appears) will do nothing - I'll still need to re-do those races...

Hi,
Several other members got that, see https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/lost-all-my-cars.292026/

I am back reporting because this happened to me a SECOND time just now. I had a backup this time and only lost 1 hour (instead of 10 the first time !). How it happened? Again in the same way: by tuning an AE car, and reducing power, then the car settings were named "GARG", and the PP was not updated correctly; exactly what happened the first time. So now I put back my AE cars without touching them in the stockyard, until PD fix that problem.
To check whether this theory is correct, for those who got this error:
- Did you have AE cars ?
- Did you tune them? Did you reduce power with the power limiter?
- Did you see the "GARG" name for the car setting ?
- Did the AE cars you used came from the stockyard, or have you never used the stockyard?
It seems that there is some sort of incompatibility between the actual game data and the AE cars, but I am far from beeing an expert on that

note: I never glitched / exploited anything before this happened.
