Problem opening file with the program i want

Well here is the story. I tried to make it so that "pivot" files would work when i double click them so...i went to the "open with" option and pressed "browse". I choose "pivot" as the application to open with and pressed "open". Thinking i solved it i press "ok". 👍

The thing is, it didn't actually do anything and was left on the recommended program being "photoshop". So the problem is, it wont let me choose the program to open with from my documents. When i press "browse" and find the application (pivot) it doesnt do anything, it doesnt put "pivot" on the list

Right click the file and select properties. Next to 'Opens with' click Change. Select the program.

Thats the same as pressing "open with". It comes up with the same menu. The same menu which doesn't work.

Is the Always use the selected program box checked?

Ive tried that but it doesn't help because the selected program isn't the one i want...

So now adobe photoshop is on the always use...

How did you solve it?

I went to my computer, went up to tools and pressed folder options. Then went to file types and deleted .Piv file from the list. I still can't make pivot the default but at least i can load them on pivot. I got that info off of the Microsoft site.
