Problem with buttons on Logitech Driving Force GT wheel

I've got my Logitech wheel set as controller 1, and then I start up GT5. For some reason, when I press the X button (to enter GT Mode for example) nothing happens. But if I then press the PS button, wait a breath, and push the PS button again, the previous push of the X button occurs...if that's confusing let me rephrase...to get the X button to work on my wheel, I have to push it and then push the PS button twice. What's the deal? All cables are connected.

Yah I searched google and here. That link has nothing at all to do with my question. They're talking about gettting used to a wheel after having used a controller. I'm talking about the buttons on my wheel not working properly. All I can find while searching is what seems to be a common issue with the brake pedal sticking.

I've had some funny things like that happen as well. Try turning the ps3 off and on(silly I know) also if ds3 is on shut it off and see. My troubles sort of dissapeared and now my wheel works fine and I can keep the ds3 on and set to controller 1.

This happens if your pedal plug isn't pushed home all the way or has come unplugged completely.

This or something is on the pedal, pushing it down.

Opened up the pedal to take a look inside thinking maybe I had the stuck break problem. When I start a race in GT5 it appears the accelorator and brake are fully depressed (rpms revving maxed out and brake pedal guage maxed out too). Inside the pedal all connections are firm. Hmmm....:dunce: I'll try turning off PS and back on again. Only the wheel is on and assigned as controller 1.

Oh, I've defo had that with brake being full on a few times and once with full gas. Just unplug the wheel usb and put it back when that happens, it recalibrates everything.

Closed the pedals back up and tried turning PS off and back on again with only the wheel hooked up (no DS3's on). No difference, X, Circle, Square, and Triangle buttons do not work. The PS button actually acts like the X button when pushed twice. You don't even have to push X to select something, just push the PS buttons twice and it selects.
Also tried unplugging USB from PS and plugging back in. Wheel recalibrated but still no luck with fixing buttons.

I noticed there is only 2 springs on 1 of the 2 pedals. Should there be 2 springs on both pedals?
Also, maybe the connections are a little different on my pedals, you can see in the bottom image that the guy doing the brake pedal fix that I found on the internet, his connections are not in the same position as mine so I think to tighten his up he had to carefully remove the potentiometers to be able to unplug the connections for retightening.
Also, if it matters, I'm on GT5 version 1.08

Bugger, sounds not so good :(

I've had mine apart a few times; the springs are 2 for brake and one for gas so that's fine. I doubt your wires in there suddenly became loose. TBH it does not sound like bad pots to me but I guess it's worth a shot.

actually your problem may be that you're set to controller one....I know for a fact the the DFGT doesnt have to be either controller one or two to work...I usually change my DS3 to controller one and let the DFGT be where ever it defaults to.
Lastly go to the DFGT setup screen and set it back to default then try again

Is the DFGT setup screen the controller settings screen (where you can reassign controller, etc)? I don't see an option to set anything to default so maybe I'm lost.

And I've just also noticed, with the wheel plugged in even my DS3 controller's buttons don't work, same problems on the DS3 as on the wheel. :grumpy:

I really think that you have a broken wire somewhere along the length of the Pedal connector wire.

look along it for any crush marks or kinks.

thanks, but I couldn't find a remedy there. I talked to Logitech and I've moved to possible issues with the GT5 game itself, because I'm having the same issue with my hand held controller AND they both work fine on the PS3. They only malfunction when I have to toggle to go into GT5 game mode. Pshhh, this is frustrating to say the least.

I can only think of two troubleshooting tips.

1. Try GT5 without the wheel, only use the controller without plugging the wheel in. If it works fine, you have an issue with the wheel.

2. Download the DFGT software for you computer and plug you wheel in. It has tools to check your wheel for issues. If it show errors, check your wheel out. The software shows you things like, button presses, shifting movements etc. If you see something moving in the program, it means a button is stuck or something.

I have a G27 and it uses the same PC software and it helped me a lot. Download here, Logitech DFGT Software download. I had an issue where my gas pedal was sticking.
