Problem with latest update.

Everytime I try online with GT5P the update comes up, then a little bit before halfway it claims that an error occured during the download, so I can't go online. How do I fix this if there is a way?

Okay then. But does the size of the PS3's memory matter? (at the start of its life) I happen to have an 80GB PS3 so I was thinking smaller PS3's would rectify more problems on certain games.

My PsN japanese gt5prologue appx 4000mb. The storage 1.9 without any updates. appx. 2. gb update size

Tried at least 10 times and it is still not doing it...it gets worse and worse as I do more downloads, though sometimes it gets better. Is there a way to download the update through the main PS3 console or PlayStation Store?

You can download it via news. Mine took ages also, it's a pain. Maybe try trying at a time when you would expect servers in you locale to be quieter. Rest assured every time it does download a little bit more, it carries on from where it left off.

I really hope PD/Sony fix this, what a way to alienate thousands of new fans that have been waiting to get a PS3/GTP for Christmas.

Is your PS3 using a wireless connection because that makes it slower, use wired if you can, it worked first go for me using a wired connection

I do use a wireless connection but I don't have any form of access to a wired connection.

There is a thingy in options menu of GT5P. That deletes online.. umm.. I really forgot the words. But you will find it. It might help. Then Restart game, and try again. If if you get error message, do the same, restart game and try again. I must be one of the luckiest GT5P players because most times I had to do this is twice!

Another good tip is to go to PS3 online menus and reset the connection to internet.
