Problem with Monitor

I seem to be getting little lines at the bottom of the screen that just pop up and disappear and they get in larger quantities the longer I'm on. I'm not sure if anyone else in this household notices but its ticking me off. Is it refreshing a lot or something? I degaussed it and it didn't do anything. Any help is appreciated.

I dunno if this is the same kind of problem I had. My monitor had these lines that popped up at the top of my screen, the higher the refresh rate the more lines there were. So I used 60hz, then my eyes were geting sore from all the noticable flickering. So I got it repaired for cheap, some resistor box thing blew up (Never heard it blow up though).

It could be a couple of things. Your monitor may be going bad, or possible magnetic interference from something. Do you have any unshielded speakers near your monitor? Those are the only things that I can think of right now.

Hmm...I have speakers near my monitor but I'm not sure whether or not they are shielded/unshielded. And I don't dare change the refresh rate unless I know it can be changed back easily and won't harm the computer. But lately it seems they haven't been showing up. Thanks guys and I'll say something if it happens again.

Right click on Desktop > Properties > Settings. Click on Advanced. Click on the Monitor tab and it'll bring up an option to change the Refresh Rate.

Here you can change the refresh rate, and it can easily be changed back by changing the settings to what you had before. :)

Just a tip, make sure you check the Hide modes that this monitor can not display option. Checking this hides refresh rates that your monitor can not display. If you uncheck this option and pick a refresh rate that the monitor can not display, chances are you'll stuff your monitor.

The only way changing the refresh rate will harm your computer is by setting the refresh rate to a setting that it can't handle.

I'm pretty sure, not positive, but pretty sure that when I change my resolutions, it also changes my refresh rate if need be... I don't really need that much higher of a resolution than 1024x768 because my pixle depth isn't that great to show much difference, I think....

Yeah. Your monitor auto adjusts your refresh rate. The higher your resolution, the lower the refresh rate is.

Eg: My monitor can handle 85hz at 1024x768 but can only handle 60hz at 1280x1024. When I switch to 1280x1024, it auto adjusts my refresh rate to 60hz.
