Problem with Sixaxis controller

I've got an original 60GB PS3 with backwards-compatibility for PS2 games. Gran Turismo 4 runs just fine, except for one problem. The car is constantly accelerating, even when I don't touch the controller. It's because the game thinks that the right analog stick is always being moved up. I have this problem in all other PS2 games I've tried, but there's nothing wrong when I try to play PS3 games.

Anyone know a way to fix this? Will a Dualshock 3 work?

I don't know about compatibility but, have you tried reconfiguring the buttons so that the right stick is inactive? It sounds like you might have a problem with the controller.

I tried to reconfigure the controls in the Options menu and there's no way to get rid of the right stick, as far as I know.

you might try a Dualshock 3. I don't know.
