I hooked up my PS2 (the thin one) to my router but it dosent seem to be working. My router recognizes the connection and if I "host" a game it connects but I'm the only one on the grid. If I try to connect and play with others then it just says "waiting for connection" I dont understand what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks.

How many PS2s are you trying to play with?

Make sure only one machine is set to "Host" in GT4's options.
Make sure the Network Configuration file saved on your memory card is deleted before each attempt to network.

Is everybody else on your same network? If you're looking for Internet play, that's not available in GT4. When you say you hooked up your PS2, it sounds like you only have the one on hand. Makes for a very boring LAN game. :)

Everybody you want to play against has to be on the same network with you, not out on the Internet, which is why they call it LAN play. Everybody who wants to play on a LAN has to pack up their gear and go to someone's house. Each PS2 needs its own TV, network cable, GT4 discs, etc.

If you need online, there's a way to do it. Do a search on NETWORK in the GT4 forums, you'll find info for bith LAN mode and the add-ons you can use to get online.

Also, all the other guys must try to connect first. Then the host starts up his game.

If anyone can show me repeatable steps to prove under what conditions this is correct, I will gladly update my LAN page (below) to include the information.

Based on my experience, though, the host can join or create the LAN, at any time.
It doesn't matter when the host joins the LAN. Until proven otherwise, anything else is a myth.

Cheers,

MasterGT

there it is connecting in xlink kai(gt4 "online") but it is pretty much lan....people should search. just skip to step 3 for lan

I too have noticed host can connect anytime...it's just getting setup.

dking: I think you are mixing this thread up with the other one where Mr. Anxious is trying to setup GT4 on-line. Otherwise, I have no idea what you are going on about.
