I will go to load AutoCFD 2016 (Using a student license) and this will appear:
Capture1.PNG

License Server System takes me to a screen asking for a license server, which when I type it in, isn't responding. So, I specify the license file and select this:
Capture2.PNG

Which is the license file, so it comes up with this:
Capture3.PNG

The problems then arrive when I try and continue opening the programme. First showing this error message:
Capture4.PNG

(Googling the error code hasnt brought anything helpful up), so I close it and carry on loading, until this appears:
Capture5.PNG

(More information just gives a load of indirect jargon) and it closes.

This problem is stopping me using the software, and I'm wondering if anyone has a fix for it? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a valid license for this version?
Some licenses are only for specific years

Are you using that Free 3 year license for students?

What version where you using before?

Have you troubleshooted on autodesks website?

Have you contacted autodesk?
If you haven't, do it.
They are the experts when it comes to their products.

  • I am, but there's still 2 years on that.
  • None.
  • I have, it recommended this but that didn't work.
  • I have, yes. I'm waiting on a reply, but was just hoping someone here had a solution.

So you have done the following and increased the value by 1 second?
Are you using a VPN?

Solution:
This situation can occur when you access the license manager through a VPN, dial-up or a slow DSL/ISDN link.

AutoCAD products contain licensing enhancements that increase network bandwidth and latency requirements. To resolve this problem, it is strongly recommended that you increase network bandwidth or reduce latency to an acceptable level so the license management technology can function correctly.

If increasing network bandwidth is not an option, you can increase the amount of time the program waits for a response from the license manager by configuring an environment variable at the client workstation. Follow these steps:

  1. Right-click My Computer. Click Properties.
  2. (for Vista and Windows 7, click the "Advanced system settings" link.)
  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
  4. On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
  5. In the Environment Variables dialog box, under System Variables, click New.
  6. In the New System Variable dialog box, enter FLEXLM_TIMEOUT for the variable name and 1000000 for the variable value.
  7. Click OK to close each dialog box.
  8. Launch the Autodesk application.
If you are able to obtain a license, the value of 1000000 microseconds (1 second) is sufficient. If you still cannot obtain a license, repeat the procedure; increasing the value in 1000000 microsecond increments until you are able to obtain a license from the license server.

Dont know if this applies but when I clicked on the link for the free license, this is what is shown

http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/all

It doesnt show Autodesk CFD as supported.
So the free student license may not apply to CFD.

So you have done the following and increased the value by 1 second?
I have, I've done it up to 9 seconds.
Are you using a VPN?
Unsure, to be honest. Quite clueless when it comes to networking.

It's under "All products" as CFD Motion.
