This is a question to all the major tuning professionals on this forum; when you tune your cars, do you take of ALL the driving aids off before testing the car?

I never have used driving aids... and now not ABS either. That way there's nothing between you and the car.

I shut everything off except for ABS; GT5's brake tuning and the way the tires lock up still feels a little off compared to what I'm used to (rFactor, GTR2, etc). I find that faster stopping may be possible without ABS but modulation feels wrong to me and the lack of feedback as to what the tires are doing kills it the rest of the way.

I'm by no means a "pro" tuner, but I would like to add one thought on braking: if you're running in the gravel I've found enabling ABS - even at level 1 - really lengthens your braking distances. I always keep it on for tarmac though.

I turn everything of that I feel can affect my times negative.. And thats everything off. But for the ABS I feel that there is way to hard to "feel" the brakes, so I leave that one at the default setting "1".. Do you guys use camber, toe, springrate, dambers, rebound dambers, swaybars, aerodynamics ans so on? I love doing those things :-) The feeling you get when u are satisfied with your car and it feels 100% is priceless!

For some reason on most of my muscle cars, when im cornering, 1 of the 4 tires begins to smoke which destabilizes the car eventually leading me to spin and slightly drift. And.. there are other times, when all but 1 tire doesnt heat up and smoke which causes other steering problems.
How do i correct this?

You need to stiffen the front end via shocks, dampers and roll bars. Lower the car too. The weight being tranfered back to front and front to back on acceleration will be the same, but stiffening the suspension a bit will help keep the car balanced. I am not a pro, but I have done some reading :)

this is all IMO :) lol

let me know if it works.

Also drive within the limits of your vehicle... If its a front tire then you're driving too fast through a corner. If it's a rear tire then you should install a custom lsd... 5,14ish,5

nope, doesnt work. When braking, it brakes in a straight line and steering wont budge it all left or right when braking. The car also became less stable.

In order to see how the car truly behaves you need the aids off except ABS which isn't as important. If the aids are hampering the car when it's going to show faults how will you know there's something wrong?

im actually trying to tune a car myself for the first time, mainly because it is really powerful and is probably one of the coolest cars in GT5. But i cant seem to make it work. I can make it corner great and handle well but then the braking is very poor. Whereas when i fix the breaking, the car spins out of control and tries to drift. It seems i cant have both. I cant find a great balance between the two.
