Disappointed to hear there's been no improvements to the AA on the standard PS4. Other than The Golf Club 2, the AA in PCARS 2 is the worst I've seen this generation. Shame.

Anyone else seen this in the replay in the demo?
Some strange things happening on the right and at the bottom part of the images. Looks like one part of the replay is on top of the other or something similar.

PS4 Pro.
 
One thing I really want is an option to invert the Y-Axis in Photo Mode. It is near impossible to change after 20 years of using the inverted scheme.

It clearly is as no horrible jaggies now (still jaggies but no where near as bad) and no crazy LOD models changing every second.

It looks like a different game. Would be amazing to see it improve further if the full graphics patch is not in the demo.

We haven't touched AA in any way on standard PS4, it's still EQAA at 1080p. We've fixed the bokeh issue in replay and the shadow shimmering on trees...

If that was fixed I would order the PS4 version right now.

I did like how well it drove and how good the ffb was straight out of the box so to speak. Those jaggies just kept distracting me. Maybe time to upgrade to a Pro.
 
@IanBell Good call on releasing a demo. You just sold another copy. The game was always on my wish list pending bugfixes. Played the demo on PS4 Pro for an hour last night and it was enough to move PC2 up to #1 on my wish list. Saw it on Amazon today for $25 and couldn't pass it up. I can't compare with the current version since I have never played the retail game but I definitely like what I saw in the demo. Driving experience is wonderful. Graphics and HDR a bit iffy on the PS4 Pro but not bad. The GT3 race with variable weather is awesome.

Definitely has the potential to be the greatest sim of all time on console. Pleasantly surprised to be on board much sooner than I imagined.

The patch is in the approval process Sony/ms. So It can be any day now and i doubt any steering is possibile for SMS.

I've ready the whole thread on the other forum about the demo and cant see anywhere where is been said that it's in the approval process. Care to link me?

Best i can find was from IanBell "It would be if the patch wasn't 'imminent' yes".

Is "imminent" the new "soon"?
 
@IanBell, glad to hear your team is making improvements and fixes, keep up the hard work.


But if you can't understand why someone would downvote a demo for a game they payed full price for 2 months ago, then I don't know what to say. Those votes had nothing to do with the quality of the demo.

It's a long shot, but maybe those initial doenvotes came from people who got banned from
SMS forums for saying, "this game needs a major patch to fix many issues."

Man we have some very spoilt dudes about these days did it say in the bible that one of the end times signs would be "horrible jaggies"

My first sim as well and boy i loved that game which at the time looked incredible hence we didnt moan about the graphics! It's silly to use 25 year old games as a measure to current AA talk for current gen games especially using a game that looked better than most if not all of it's rivals at the time ;)

Don't get excited guys, it can stay with 1st parties for a while and it's completely out of our control. We're just a little happy about the response to the demo which has just a portion of what's coming in the patch.

The PC patch shouldn't have to go through any review process, so why not release it? (wrt review process from MS & Sony)

The poor saps who buy the game after playing the demo thinking that's what they're getting from the full version are so in for a surprise.

SMS is doing some really loose and questionable stuff with this.

my example:

- sound ............ (5)
- physical ........... (5)
- ffb ............... (3)
- fps .............. (7) FPS is a priority for me
total sum of notes = 25

Can't get much clearer than a definitive statement that the patch is with 1st party approvers (Sony/MS) than straight from The Wookie's mouth.

It's a matter of days now folks. Well, it should only be. Hopefully we PC players don't get held up too long waiting on the console approvals........

I always thought first parties were the testers. Either way I hope it is with sony/ms. Fingers cross this time next week we will be all patched up.

Based on a few hours with the PS4 demo


- graphics ...... (6)
- sound ............ (7)
- physical ........... (?)
- ffb ............... (10) I think it is now the best in the genre, coming off of kerbs etc feels like no other game.
- fps .............. (8)

Graphics on pc are a solid 8 imo. I assume the rest will be the same post patch.

Nope. First party is the platform manufacturer.

Sms in this case is considered the "3rd party."

PD would be considered "2nd party" although really they are 1st party seeing as they are owned by Sony.

He never actually says that they have it, just that they can take a while with it. Let's not jump to conclusions.

Same thread, a few pages earlier. I don't jump to conclusions.... ever.... too old to jump. ;)

And before anyone gets on the "final testing where?" crap, he made it pretty clear through numerous comments yesterday and today that the "FINAL TESTING" refers to Sony/MS testing.
