I had read in a review online of the G27, that due to the new configuration of the wheel (no sequential shifter other than the paddles behind the wheel), the GT5P would not work with the paddles, as it defaults to the sequential stick with no way of switching over to the paddles. Hope that makes sense!

I am soon getting either a G25 or G27, but really wanted to be able to play Prologue (with manual gears, but not using the H-Gate) now that the release date for the full version is next year.

Thanks

That's a strange thing, considering all Logitech wheels have been totally compatible with all the GT series.

Maybe this needs to be posted here too.... not sure.

I was a little surprised too when I read it, and I've not read the same thing anywhere else to confirm the issue.

As you suggested, I will also post the question there.

Thanks

i can confirm this. i just got a G27 about 2 weeks ago and in GT5p if using a manual transmission, it forces you to use the 6 speed shifter. i was told by Logitech that they are working with PD/Sony to resolve the issue.

the G27's paddles do work in GT4 on my PS2 though.

Thanks for the confirmation. Definitely seems like an oversight, but then based on the removal of a feature (the sequential stick), more of a side-affect.

Still torn on whether to get the G25 or G27. I've got the WheelStandPro already, and just need to pick the wheel....though this is a Christmas gift from my wife, so still some time to decide. (37 years old and can't wait for Christmas!!!!!).

I have NFS:Shift, Dirt2, F12007CE & GT5P, so I think I will have enough to keep me busy waiting for GT5.

I've been having a ball with the g27 for the last 2 weeks.
It's my first 900° wheel and clutch kit.
The only thing I'm having issues with at this moment, has to do with
red lining with the clutch in first gear, then dumping into the next gear.
The funny thing I cannot understand is that the game doesn't allow me to shift into second at anything higher than 5k.
I can shift normal below 5k.
The same goes for any other gear.
This is normal?
I'm not sure If I recall this happening before the update.

I don't know about the G27 but for the G25 and 911 Fanatec wheels this isn't normal. As long as you lift throttle and are not in heavy wheelspin you can change at anytime.

if you shift like you are trying to chirp the tires when going into the next gear it usually results in a mis-shift. this was like this back when i had my Fanatec and if the same way with this G27. if you don't shift just right, then the game considers it a mis-shift.

the whole 6 speed with a clutch thing is a nice idea and it can be fun, but i'd much rather just use the paddles. it's hard to be competative when you are missing gears. it's a shame that the paddles don't work with prologue. lately i have been playing GT4 and Toca 3 with the G27 and the paddles work fine there. i also just picked up a used copy of F1CE and although it works with the G27 it feels like utter garbage. it is so rough feeling it's about unplayable with this wheel.

Thats flat shifting or a good amount of power while shifting, I said in my post "lift throttle". You can still make good fast shifts still with lifting.

You can however press clutch, lift throttle, place it into next gear, flatten throttle (on limiter if you wish) then dump the clutch. Though that doesn't give you a faster shift but does allow you to power into the next gear if you want to break out into wheelspin (or a chirp depending).

you are totally right. i don't understand why the game doesn't allow you to do it though. you can obviously do it in a real car, so why not in the game.

Hopefully, this will be updated before or when the full version comes out.
Till then, the drifters will have to suffer in silence.

Yeah, we used to be able to do it but all the leader boards were filled with flatshifters so when PD updated GT5P (august 1st last year) they changed it.

When KY was asked about it he said it wasn't realistic to be flatshifting all the time, which is true, but I hope it does return in GT5 with the chance of mechanical damage for abusing it.

My biggest problem with it is during drifting if you are under heavy wheelspin you can't shift up and continue it until the wheelspin reduces, which sometimes causes the engine to bog down and lose the drift.

I agree, I would love to see flat shifting come back. The fact that they are adding mechanical damage would prevent flat shifting being exploited, also to make sure everyone was on an even playing field, Time Trial could be configured to run without the ability to flat shift. I know pretty much all standard car's can't take being flat shifted without something eventually giving up, but quite a few race car's can take it.

Before the update, what was drifting like?
What else has changed?
I would really love to see flat shifting come back, even if it is with limitations.
Typically how long can a car go without problems until flat shifting causes something to break.
The tranny would be what goes?

Obviously, this is very important in drifting.
I'd rather this be an option in terms of restrictions that you can adjust before any race.
Or as mentioned in other posts, Limit the use resulting in mechanical failure.
But of course, nothing extreme as in after minimal use then immediate wear and tear.
I want this game to be as realistic as possible.
It sounds like the absence of flat shift was a punishment for abusing it.
Now go sit in the corner and think about what you have done.
I'm not too familiar with F3, but I've heard that in clutch mode, if you neglect using the clutch in a race, you can wear out the car till it no longer works. And, If you e-brake without holding the clutch, you cannot get immediate power.(stalling for a few seconds)

My roommate just got a new G27 and you're right..the paddle shifters DO NOT work! Still a cool wheel...but I still love my Frex modded DFP w/Shifter & handbrake! :)
