New prices as of the 6th september

PS+ Essential -> $79.99
PS+ Extra -> $134.99
PS+ Premium -> $159.99

A 20-25% increase, wow Sony just doesn't care.
And since PS+ Essential is mandatory for GT7 for a lot of players, pfuff... :/
 
PS5 is the first console I haven’t bothered purchasing and I’m not missing it one bit, been on PC for 3 years now and loving it

At the very least essential should give one more free game per month and better discounts across the board or this is purely only a greedy move.
 
I think Sony has gotten very greedy lately. Think about this most 3rd party games that have cross gen versions allow you to upgrade to the PS5 versions for free but not $ony you have to pay $10 for it. So I'm not surprised at this.

Looking at exchange rates the prices are even worse for US, UK and EU customers. Japanese prices seem to be the lowest.

It's a complete rip-off to be honest.

My cousins in Turkey will be fuming already as if its already hard enough with the Turkish lira going to the drain.
 
The only game I need Plus for is Destiny 2. I can play that without Gold on my Xbox and PC. I therefore might let my sub end in December.

Im pretty sure Destiny 2 doesn't need plus to be played, thought that was the case for all free to play games on PlayStation.

They have a monopoly on this sector. PS fans bleed blue, they won't move over to Xbox as it doesn't have the exclusives.

They’re doing it just because they can. They aren’t even adding anything and now it’s $80 a year just for basic online.

Everything is going up making me reevaluate what I really need or use. I already got rid of stuff like Netflix and Disney+.
 
This has pushed me over the tipping point to cancelling my subscription; it's just not worth the price being charged anymore. Game Pass, on the other hand, is staying right where it is so I can continue to play Starfield and Forza Horizon 5.

I moved. All it took was Starfield and Forza Motorsport. I don't pay for Gold or Gaamepass and I won't be extending Plus either.

Seems it has tipped a lot of people this time around, there wasn't much of a fuss last time they increased the price as I remember it.

Hopefully they see a big drop in subscriptions and realise that they can't just milk the fan base dry because they are the runaway market leaders.

It has been $90NZD from the PS3 era, and while there have been price increases to the monthly and 3 monthly options, the yearly price hasn't changed. This was bound to happen eventually.
 
I am not too bothered because I will just go back down to Essential and call it a day. I really think I need online on both my Xbox and PS because occasionally I will get in on a game, but I think I'd prefer keeping Xbox game pass opposed to PS+ Extra because there are day 1s on game pass.
 
That’s well over $100 cad just for essential. I’m glad I don’t pay for this garbage anymore.

Not the case where I live (Europe). It used to be 50euro for a while, then 1 or 2 years ago it went to 60, now 72. I think 50 was allready stretching it as all I want to do I play an online game with my friends, I honestly dont need any other feature or 'free' monthly games.

Been wanting to switch to pc for a while now since that is where most serious racing games and the modding are. Unfortunately most of my friends are on PS4/5 so if Iwant to play with them I'm stuck with Playstation... :(
 
I’ll be dropping my PS+ when it ends in November. I got an email the other day stating my subscription would £120 for the year. While it’s only an extra £20 which isn’t huge and compared to what games you have access to still isn’t a bad price, I don’t think I can justify it.

I just don’t play a huge amount of different games.

If they gave us GT1 to GT6 then I may reconsider.

If I wanted movies I'd get Netflix/Prime/Disney/Paramount etc etc. No way to opt out and get a cheaper price just for gaming.
 
I had a look at the Core movie feature (I have Bravia Core still installed on my TV too) and while the gesture is a nice one, it’s certainly not worth the extra price PS+.

The 100 films they’ve offered range for one or two good films worth watching in 4K HDR (couldn’t find any DV ones) to downright poor films not worth your time. The majority however are just mediocre HD (none 4K) worthless films (to me anyway)

I’ll try and grab some screenshots of what they have for those interested in what’s on offer.
