Hey there, after a brief period of disuse ( at least a week) my ps3 started on freezing during games like skyrim and Gt6; strange thing is that the ps never froze during Gt and when i turn on the ps again there's not a warning about the previous incorrect shut down. Did any of you have the same problem and tell me if i can fix it by myself? Thanks in advance
Edit: if by any chance lowering the res would help?

Dust make's mine freeze now and again ... vacuum out the vent's and it run's sweet .. i have a real dusty house atm is your ps3 getting louder or fan kicking in earlier. Resolution shouldn't make a difference

How Do i do that? @vasiliflame btw no distances ent as always, noaround ular sound

I don't know @Grayfox mentioned it not me saint mate
 or are you aking how to use a vacum cleaner ... plug it in turn it on point it at the vents keep a inch or two distance but wrap your hand around the inch gap to create a barrier so static dont get passed to the board.

There are videos on youtube to dissemble your PS3.
But you run the risk of killing it if you screw up.

To check the smart status on the hdd, you would have to connect it to a pc and check it there. Remember to not attempt to format it. Windows won't recognise it as usable hdd and will probably ask you if you want to format it.

Personally, the only statistic I've found useful in smart is the reallocated/bad sector count.

I've found useful in smart is the reallocated/bad sector count.

05: Reallocated Sector Count
0A: Spin Retry Count
C2: Temperature
C5: Current Pending Sector Count
C6: Uncorrectable Sector Count

Are 5 that you should look at.

Ideally, you would want to connect it directly to the PC's motherboard, using a S-ATA cable. You can't do this with most laptops, unless it has an eSATA connector, or a spare HDD bay.

Nope only ingame, how do i connect the ps to the pc? Usb?

ooooo if you dont know mate i would avoid that route ... basically if you have multiple drives on your pc .. you can connect to the sata if its new type to a spare mother board slot ...

Edit:Bloody teed

Time for you to disassemble it, clean it well at the inside, and change the thermal paste. Thats what I will do but I'll make someone else do it for me because I'm not so good at this.

After various options i decided let someone more skilled than me to clean it for me, let you know if it will happen again, for now thanks everyone
