PS3 Issue

So i were doing a race on GT6. The race finished, but the menu didn't pop up. The car just went around the track, over and over again. So i tried turning it on and off again. The screen went black and i heard a peeping noise. It didn't turn off so i hit the power switch on and off again. The "PS3-sytem-repair-menu" popped up and it repaired itself. When i afterwards tried to play a game, the PS3 didnt read the disk. I tried turning it on and off several times. But it didn't work. So, i decided to do the fan-test. I let the PS3's fan do it's thing and i waited for the red light to stop flashing. The problem is: it hasn't stopped flashing. It has been a little less than 24 hours since i did the fan test. I tried googling a bit, to see if it is anything i can do myself, but all the solutions require me to reboot my HDD. Does anybody know how i can fix this without rebooting my HDD?

Had this issue last year, unfortunately the only solution is to replace the blue ray drive as it is damaged and won't read discs. I chose to just buy another system as it was cheaper. Problem occurred with a 40GB Original Fat.

Mine succumbed to the same problem. Your best bet is that you hope that you kept the warranty up to date (you can purchase an additional year or two of coverage on PSN) before you send it to Sony for repairs. Even if you do get a new one, like I am going to for a short term solution, I still strongly suggest that you purchase the coverage anyways for any trouble that you might have down the road.
