So, i'm looking to replace my deceased PS3.
I found a Super Slim 12GB one for £120.

I'm wondering if this is a good deal(?) All I use my PS3 for is GT5 free run, C.O.D and taking GT5 photos. :)

Do you think a PS3 with such a low memory would be ok for me?

Thank you.

Don't bother. The 12GB models don't come with a hard drive caddy and buying the caddy from Sony is an extra cost. Just get yourself the 500GB version and save yourself cash and hassle.

From the prices I've found, it can be cheaper to buy the 12GB PS3, a hard drive caddy, and a 500GB drive, than it is to buy the 500GB PS3. You can save about £10 on Amazon by doing that.

This. I ordered a 500GB this afternoon - spending an extra tenner is preferable to having to install a hard drive and potentially screwing it up.

That said, I've never installed a hard drive in anything, so if you have more experience you may decide to go down that route. The 12GB + Sony's 250GB HDD (which comes with the mounting bracket) totalled £185 yesterday, but as a 500GB was £210 I felt the extra space and lack of hassle was worth the extra £25.

Keep an eye on Amazon's pricing, if you buy through them* - the 12GB was £120 yesterday, now it's £149. Add the £65 for the 250GB HDD and if you're buying this evening, a 500GB works out cheaper...

From all the reviews I've seen and a dash of personal experience (of GT5, not of COD), I doubt 12GB would be enough GT5 and COD. You could probably have one of the other.

*Edit: just noticed you're looking at an eBay shop, so ignore that.

One thing to keep in mind is that some of the testing done with GT5 is suggesting that the PS3 Super Slim can be much worse for loading times and whatnot compared to older PS3 models because of the OEM hard drives that Sony is shipping with them. I'll see if I can dig up the thread about it.

Look out for good deals on PS3. I think it is better if you get one with hard drive already especially if you are not considering adding a hard drive if you got the 12GB version. You should be able to get a 500GB relatively cheap.

Did you really pay £210 just for the console? You can get it cheaper than that with a new game.

Are they really that bad? Me, my dad, my brother, and cousin all got the 250gb Super Slims and they are pretty good actually and GT5 loads just as fast as it did on my old Slim. This may not be the case for all the Super Slims so I am not completely sure..

Super Slims are just smaller and cheaper versions(Cheaper to produce) of the slim. There's nothing bad about them(Some people don't like the sliding disc tray door but it's down to personal preference. I personally like it).

My 60gb Ps3 went YLOD a couple of months ago, I bought a 12gb Super Slim to see me through to PS4. I bought the HDD caddy from Amazon for £7, used my 250gb HDD out of my old PS3, so doing it that way saved me a load of cash.

As for the PS3 super slim, it seems fine to me, although for the first few weeks I kept forgetting to close the lid, after put a game in.

You will need to upgrade the HDD as 12gb won't last any time at all.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

If you've still got your dead PS3, Xamado7V, go with the 12gb and use your old PS3's hard drive.
