With GT6 fresh on the market and me having a bit of extra time on my hands, I've been spending quite a bit of time thrashing cars around the track.
Yesterday after my first online session things seemed to go broke however. After a short play time of about 10-20min GT6 will cease to load tracks. The automatic demo will get stuck on a loading screen and BGM will stop playing every now and then. First indicators where slow appearance of objects on tracks like bridges and grand stands. Replays would fail to load tracks all together and cars would float in the scenery. I tried reinstalling the game data from scratch, but without success.
I noticed that the disc drive will start a clicking noise. A short search lead me to this video showing the same clicking:
Unlike in the video my PS3 (Slim version, well over its warranty) still recognizes the game and starts it without problem. It is just unable to load any racetracks.
The suggested videos at youtube all point to errors in the blu-ray laser unit. Before I start tinkering on my PS3 I wanted to ask here for any other suggestions and causes to this type of problem.
Have any users here had a similar problem?
