Yesterday when I did turn on my system I just received a black screen. I pressed the ON button a few seconds to restart its video settings and after that, I turned it on again and I saw the video signal again. I didn't changed the HDMI cable or the monitor, so I was worried because of that.
Today, it gave me black screen again. Even doing the rest of the video settings by the ON button I didn't get anything different. I unplugged all and moved all to another room, plugged it into an old CRT through Composite Video, pressed the ON button a few seconds to reset the video signal again and it was starting perfectly, I saw my accounts and so on...
The LCD I do use seems to be not the problem. I was thinking about the HDMI cable.. (that may explaing why after doing resets nothing changed on the HDMI but changed on the Composite) but I don't have other one to check it, so tomorrow I'll ask a friend for a test. I'll try to test my system on his TV with his HDMI and then check my HDMI cable on his system too, to discard things if possible. What I'll do now is, although I've back ups of most of my saves, do another check of them to have a full copy. What do you think of this? any suggestion? I was starting to think it may be a VGA problem but how would it fail in HDMI and not in Composite Video?
Time ago I had a video thing related to the USB connectors. After I started to use an extension cord, it never happened again. This thread (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=116553) for more info. Summarizing: when I connected a USB device, 10% of the times did reset the video settings for few miliseconds while plugging it or simply the signal was lost (so I had to unplug the device to recover it). With the time I realized it could be because a PCB thing or a current effect on the plugging in a half way when recognizing it or so.
The unit has 1 year and 2 months or so. For the other things, it's on mint conditions. Maybe that USB thing doesn't have anything in relation with this and this is only a HDMI problem (I hope the cable and not the PS3 out...). I'll post more info as soon as possible.
EDIT 1: All saves copied to a Stick USB. The system is still working perfectly on the CRT through Composite Video. Nothing happened while plugging / unplugging the Stick USB.
