***PlayStation Network Maintenance on March 9, 2011***
Answer ID: 312 Product: PlayStation®Network-Network Status

The PlayStation Network will be taken offline for maintenance on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, for approximately 11 hours during the following maintenance window:

Down Time (Start): Wednesday, March 9, 8:00 AM, Pacific Time
Down Time (End): Wednesday, March 9, 7:00 PM, Pacific Time

During this time you may:

Not be able to access the PlayStation Store

Have difficulty signing in to the PlayStation Network

Not be able to play online games

See a maintenance page when attempting to access the PlayStation Network

Darn, I really thought that was the online forum was the right forum!!! Oh well. :lol: Guess after all I am still relatively new here!

It's been my (somewhat limited) experience that a thread like this that pertains to multiple sub-sections (online racing, remote B-Spec, Marketplace, etc.) is best placed in the general GT5 section otherwise we end up with the same thread in all of the sections. This way, hopefully en route to said subs one might see this thread and simply comment instead of starting a new thread. :)

Thank you for the information, and will use it the future! 👍

EDIT: @Dmarc_Atl probably updating the user interface. That's my assumption. But we all know about assuming........

Right during the day for North America? Why couldn't they find a time when the only people awake would be the ones in the Pacific Ocean :P

Wonder what they are going to be doing

They are going to clear out all rooms from open lobby because of the wrecked tires due to the massive grinding at Special Stage Route 7.

I don't remember ever having a maintenance period that long before. I really hope we still get new events this week. The update is scheduled to end when Seasonals are normally up.

It would have been nice if Sony had sent this message to everyone with a PSN account a day or two ago as a heads up. I feel for those people with the 9hr+ endurance races running. This is the kind of thing that hurts a company's name. It is so simple to send a mass message, that it is bad customer relations not to. Sony is effectively making some of the most popular games completely useless at a time when it's largest consumer base is wanting to play online.

So did I understand correctly, that this is 8:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST), so 16:00 (4 PM) GMT?

I ended up playing GT5 exclusively online as of late, so that means no GT5 for me during that period. Hoping for a big patch.

I'm hoping it won't affect trading. I've already sent, but I'm expecting to receive right within the maintenance window.

from eu.playstation.com:
"PlayStation Network is offline for scheduled maintenance from 16:05 on Wednesday 9 March 2011 until 03:00 on Thursday 10 March 2011, GMT.

During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the following services:

* PlayStation Store on PS3 and PSP.
* PlayStation Network Account Management.
* PlayStation Network Account Registration.

In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from eu.playstation.com. If you wish to play online during the maintenance, please ensure you sign in to PSN before 16:05 on Wednesday 9 March 2011."

If I read and understand this correctly, we might be able to play online still, if we logged in prior to 4pm GMT today. Let's keep our fingers crossed....

Some people seem to misjudge this, it's maintenance for the PSN, not just for Gt5, so I don't think they will patch anything, like SSR7.

Hmm 11 hours server maintenance, could be a big issue, but then actual functionality may only be down for minutes.
I was watching a business program the other day when the boss of an International IT firm who looks after the systems of many companies say expected service for business is to offer functionality for 99.99% of the time, which he said leaves 10 hours in a year for shut down work.

PSN maintenence guys. Not GT5 maintenance time.
I don't expect to see a GT5 update or new seasonals.
I guess they will patch something to get hold of all the hacked PS3s. Thanks GEOHOT.

IGT5 usually gets updated on a thursday, so who knows, a GT5 patch couod happen, so everyone quickly to the SSR7 glitch rooms, schnell schnell!

That'll usually refer to the amount of *unscheduled* downtime in the system, scheduled downtime is another matter entirely...although it's normal practise to do it when users are asleep if possible ;)

Do I need to remove my shared drivers or they should be fine?
