I am in a bit of a bad spot right now. My PS3 updated, and installed the update so I could get on PSN. When I signed in, I had to reset my password via E-mail. No problem, so I signed in to my E-mail account. And no E-mail. Not in the Inbox, or the Spam folder. So does anyone know how I can fix this? Or is it not possible?

It states it will take up to 24 hours to receive it.

How come you are having to reset your passwords via email? It presented me with a prompt, I put in a new password and logged in immediately.

You can only reset the password via the PS3 if you opened the PSN account on the same PS3.
Mine died so i've got another so I also have to wait for the email. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Need the email associated to each account active and also it can’t be a fake one, if all is up to date you should be taken straight to change pass word screen. I have to wait till i get home from work to test this though; i hope my MSN email i haven't used for a long while is still active. Be good idea if you do get in and update email addresses to keep them active.

I use my email everyday so it is active, and it's a real one. I STILL haven't gotten an email so I didn't get to play at all today:grumpy:. I better get it by tomorrow.

Ok, what exactly did it say when you tried to log in using old pass word. Most say it said pw no longer valid and it took them to a change PW screen.

It said password invalid.

I got the exact same thing.

This is on a 320GB slim that I bought when GT5 came out and has been my only PS3, period.

It's 🤬 crap if you tell me, some people it works for, others it doesn't!!

It also said please allow 24 hours for the E-mail to arrive.

Just be patient. There are millions of people all trying to get the e-mail at the same time, it's going to take its time coming through.

It did that for my secondary account as well. The trouble being that the e-mail address in question no longer exists. :grumpy:

I was able to change the password on my primary account just by putting in a new password on the PS3.

Both accounts were created on the PS3 so why two different methods? :dunce:

This is the issue I had! :grumpy:
I changed my primary account on the PS3 and it sent me an email for my secondary (GTP) account... WTF!? :boggled:
I have only ever owned the one PS3 (Ol' 40Gb FAT still going strong! :D) so why would it be that when both accounts were created on the same PS3 I can only change one of the passwords on the PS3 and the other requires me to wait...

ok anyone else had to wait 60 hours? 2 and a half days and Ive still recieved no email, and as others have said If I request it again it says server error. how much longer should I wait?

It took about 36 hours to recieve my email. Just got it at 7:06 this morning (its now 8:30)
Email states that the link will expire in 3 hours, lucky I got up early today.
Went to reset my password entered the code.. "The password reset request timed out."
What?! It's been just over an hour since I got the email. Atleast I got my GTP account running :)

Got mine just now, had to nip to the cafe for the free wifi so I could activate using my mobile. I can get the expiry but 3 hours seems a little short IMHO

It would appear that the password reset page on the website itself is also down, so even when you get your email from Sony within 24 hours (conservative estimate) the link they send you doesn't work regardless of when you try.
