PT Cruiser?

I don't know if you've read the other thread on the GT3 board, but yes, the PT has supporters as a first car. It's got pretty good power stock.

The things you'll want to do first are to lighten it, put better tires (go straight to T2 super slicks; don't waste the money on Sport tires) on it, and lower it. By that time you'll have won some other cars to mess with as well.

Good luck and welcome to GTP!

I find the PTCruiser very good... I have a blue one with stage 2 turbo kit installed... but don't do that... it's just too much power for it. But the car does have good handeling, power, and its worth the green stuff. It will get you half way through the beginners... but thats about it.

Have fun!

I did not know you could lower a car... how?

You have to put at least the semi-race suspension on, but I find the full-race suspension is well worth the extra money.

Once those are on, you can adjust the ride height. Usually I put them down to about 4-5 clicks up from full low. If you lower the car, you should stiffen the spring rate by the same proportion. In other words, if the stock ride height is 100mm and you lower it to 80mm, you should add 20% to the spring rates to compensate.

Another important thing to do is make sure you switch off the ASM. It kills the handling of any front wheel drive car by increasing the amount of understeer almost threefold, especially in cars with a high center of gravity like the Cruiser.

Sport brakes are also a big help even before you get the racing tires (and more affordable as well), though the controller isn't all that neccesary this early on.

Ahh, the good ole PT Cruiser. It brings back some fond memories. The thing I liked most about it was that you could install NA and Turbo kits on it so it could do both of those cups. But the first thing you should do is, like neon_duke said, is to lighten it ,get better tires, and get better brakes. It has plenty of power, but you need to learn how to throw the bulk of that car around sharp corners. I never really took the time to try out a Miata mainly because I was winning so many races with the PT Cruiser.

I started with the PT this time around and found it to be ok... a miata will go better tho.

stiffen and lower the suspension, lighten it, dont go crazy with turbos tho cause it cant handle it :)
