I know this should be really any of my buisness but why is one of our most-known members gone?

I checked his posts and didn't see anything really.
I just noticed his Avatar sig thing was Banned and his signature was gone.

Some of us think this is a joke, but we're not sure. Pimp says he has 0 referrals, but I thought that was for the people you helped join.

I'm probably wrong about that.

The point is...we're confused about this and wonder why one of our friends is gone?

Referrals are the amount of people that you helped join.

He's seems to be really banned. It could be a joke, which is by all means possible.

Oh so thats what those referrals mean! I thought them meant how many warnings or something you have recieved. But anyways is it possible to prevent people from putting Banned above their avatar to prevent this type of confusion amongst members?

That's already in effect, you can't type Banned and set it as your user title. The forum is setup to prevent that.

You can use hidden (blank) characters to trick the system, though.

Maybe this explains it.

I thought about this post too, but PS´s last post was over 10 minutes after that. And even if that´s what caused his ban, I think it was a wrong call.

I don't think Public Secrecy had any major disputes with the mods before the posts in the thread listed above, so I couldn't see why they would ban him on a first offence, and especially without a warning.

Either way, it's a shame to see him go suddenly (if that happens to be the case).

Well... I read this thread earlier and didn't really know what to think... I don't know him well, as I have been a member for little time here and hardly know anybody. So I did a search and it seems he is banned for real. :indiff:

But then, I posted something into the 'What are you listening to? (II)' thread and I noticed a new member called 'PS'... So I thought, maybe it's him... I checked his profile and sure enough it has public_secrecy@xxx.xxx in his Instant Messaging.

So, he isn't gone completely :D If he was banned, well he just came back with another nick 👍

Bingo. And no, that isn't his first offense… he's been warned about his behavior at least three times now, and at last count has at least 5 marked offenses under his name. I'd link you to one particularly bad post of his where he made a deliberate attempt to derail the Spongebob thread, but he erased it.

Ok, so he was banned for going off-topic too many times and I guess spam?

Well, since Sage cleared this up, the mods can go ahead and lock this thread...or let it die.

Ah, ok, so it was not a shortsighted banning. I guess I haven't been reading all the threads lately, so I guess I missed his other offences. And if someone gets banned, doesn't their IP and E-Mail also get banned from registration? (although that can be easily solved with a dynamic IP address and a quick new hotmail account).

I can't give you specific details on that, but put simply, he's not permanently banned. Anyway, he's been briefed on why he was banned, and hopefully you all understand now, so we'll close this off.

I will note he is back as PS. As the rules say, he volunteered this information to the mod staff when he reregistered. We have an informal rule allowing banned users one chance for a new start; however, they understand that big improvement must be made in their posting habits if they wish to remain.

None of you have any idea of what happens behind closed doors (aka the Moderator forum), how can you possibly know if it was his first or his 200th offense? This aggravates me to no end, when everyone spews off false information, trying to get all the members against us.

Again, I'll use the same words I used when we discussed Darin's banning: When it comes to banning users, the moderating staff, and the administrators have the last word, we should not have to argue about our actions with you guys.
