Rules and Procedures:

*Standard OLR rules apply.
*No chat during quali or race if not important for the race to run smoothly.
If you can't see another car, or if another car appears to jump due to lag, that's a good reason to use the chat. Before the race, I'd appritiate if we could keep of the chat as much as possible. It will make it easier for me as a host to get any information out (Voice chat will be disabled).

*Quali:
-I'll reset the track at 16.40 PM GMT.
From here, the track is open for 15 minutes for you to set the best lap possible.
-At 16.55, I'll start the race.

*Formationlap:
-Once the countdown timer reach zero, DO NOT MOVE!
-Cars will take off 1 by 1 in a slow and steady pace.
-Pole car will act as pace car. He must not exceed 62 mph (100 km/h), and must keep a steady pace.
-The cars can initially roll single file, but a few turns before the startline, form a 2 lane grid.
-Polesitter decides wich side he want, and the rest sort themselves accordingly.
-Once the pole car reach the startline (For Indy, the startline is the "brick yard" as always. At Spa, pole car will pass the standard startline, pass T1, and are free to start the race once he reach to TOTAL sign just prior Eau Rouge), he floors it and the race is "GREEN"!
-No overtaking prior the startline under any curcuimstance.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you're not the pole car, make sure you do not floor it until the car ahead of you do.
In other words, DO NOT look at the pole car if you're 3rd or below, just look at the car holding the position ahead of you, and when he goes, so can you.
We use this method to get a good staggered start, where the cars line up nicely.
The race is 175 km, so a steady pace will win the race.. Not a few inches in T1. 👍

Saturday should be ok for me

Will-i-am (trajikone) zr1 -Saturday

Sunday -TBD.

Added! 👍

And don't be fooled by the low number of posts.
My PM conversations has been hectic to say the least.

Grids are looking awesome for both races!
I expect a few more to sign up as well.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I'll log in soon and test the cars specs in a few hours. And it's likely I'll tweak the specs a tad.
So make sure to read the OP before joining the race lobby tomorrow. 👍

This looks like being an awesome 'shakedown'! Hopefully I can get a handful of laps in before Sunday to get a feel for this beast.

Ok. So me and Remy did some testing around Suzuka (a good allround circuit for testing).

Vette: 1:54.313
Zonda: 1:54.304

And Spa:
Vette: 2:10.069
Zonda: 2:10.205

The cars was tested at the specs listed in the OP.
I had to try a bit harder with setting up the Zonda compared to the ZR1, but I eventually got there with it.

Tyre Wear:
It seems to be pretty equal. Perhaps the slightest of favour to the ZR1.

Conclution:
Saturdays race will be raced with the specs in the OP.
From the feedback after Saturdays race, I'll might tweak the specs.
But for now, the specs in the OP are final.

Setups used:

ZR1:
GR: 330 km/h
LSD: 5 / 10 / 5
DF: 35/60

SR: 13,1 / 13,5

ARB: 3 / 3
BB: 2 / 4

Zonda R:
GR: 330 km/h
LSD: 5 / 10 / 8
DF: 40/65
RH: -11 / 6
CAM: 1,6 / 1,2

Yes, Nige. It's going to be awesome! 👍

The cars are defenetly beasts.. :scared:

Breaking in and tuning my car if anyone wants some practice races.

*closed*

getting 1:26.5 round indy and about 8-10 laps before the rears are dangerously worn.

My race report:
Quali was kind of a hassle for me. Did'nt get the car right at all. Got a 5th, wich was decent.. But not more.
Race started, and tony and Brock took off like usual.
Tim, me and carracerptp followed a handful of seconds behind.
On lap 4, Brock made a mistake and went out in the sand at T4, and called it a day there.
So this preety much riuned my hopes of them 2 fighting eachother, making it more achievable to not be left in the dust.
On lap 9, tony went in to the pits, and my tyres was still good, so thought that I'd might have a shot.. (Stupid, but hey.. ;) ), and the lap after, carraceptp pitted as well (IIRC, Tim pitted at the same time as tony), but I kept on going.

But when I expected tony to pit for the 2nd time, he just kept going, and going, and going. And when he eventually pitted, It looked like he was initially going for a 4 stopper, but changed the tactics to a 2 stopper :scared:, that's some effort there tony!! 👍

Either way, I thought he lost a lot of time obviously during the last 4-5 laps on his stints, so did'nt see it as impossible to catch him.. Still naive..

And when it was 8 laps left, I was 35 seconds behind, and was running in 2nd, with better tyres and about 7 seconds ahead of carracer and Remy at the time, and was catching up to tony by like 2-3 seconds/lap.
I then made a huge error comming out on the oval, and spun. I lost about 12 seconds from that.
I maged to pass Remy, but could'nt for my life catch up to carracer.
I eventually finished 36 seconds behind tony.. It could've been a 2nd and 24ish behind tony wich would've made me pleased, but that mistake cost me loads..
Other than that, very good and clean racing from all! 👍

So, before tomorrows race, I'd like to get some feedback on the cars.. It seemed to me that the Zanda R had worse tyre wear, but had a better speed potential.. But when looking at tony, he was doing 16-17 lap stints.. So not sure. But tony is'nt regarded as an alien for nothing..

So what do you guys say?

I think the cars are even.
The Zonda "may" have a very slight advantage but the Corvette is so stable that any advantage the Zonda could have is mute.
Tops speeds were similar.
Bake points matched up.
Timeattack looked like he could keep pace with the Zonda in his ZR1 so all looks fine. Spa has many high speed corners and corner exit is key so I would bet the ZR1 will be a little faster.

Yea, kind of what I think too. From my experinace racing with tony in JGTS, the difference lloking at my best lap and his best lap was about the same as we saw today.. He was still as dominant as usual.. If the Zonda was faster over a whole race distance, he would'vr won with a bigger margin.. And if it was slower, my best would've been closer.. Or at least I think so.. But yea, initially, I agree with you. 👍

I was using Tim for my performance compassion, I seemed about the right amount off pace in a high HP car.

I never felt "Darn, that guy has more or less grip than me" when I was racing Tim, or Remy_K.

Yes! 👍 Perfect!

I must say that racing these cars was a lot of fun. The high Bhp, low weight and Racing Hards really made the cars come alive. It was really fun to try and keep it on the limit. And sometimes, that leads to mistakes that cost you.. :banghead:

Nice turn out and race after all.

The Zonda R is well balanced with these specs. I can't compare it with the Corvette though, so no feedback at the moment. Tomorrow @ Spa i'll drive the ZR1 to get a feel for it too, but in order to compare them i have to drive them back to back in the same track, so i'll try and do that.

Now as for my pit strategy today, i didn't have a plan so when i went in on lap 9-10 i noticed the pit stop takes a lot of time so i decided to experiment a bit and go for a 2 stopper instead of 3. My stints were 9-16-17 i think and i had around 2% rears at the end of the long stints being very carefull with them throughout. If i had done 14-14-14 i think it would be faster than a 10-10-11-11 start given the lenght of the pit stop at this track. Only conclusion is that with these specs and tires the Zonda is capable of doing longish stints so strategies are open, which is a good thing.

Cya tomorrow

Car's seemed ok to me though I didn't have too much to compare since my 9-lap stints threw me completely out of contention so I didn't have too much wheel-to-wheel. Though in the early going Dennis and carracer were able to keep up with me when I was in 2nd trying to stay with Tony and TA didn't have any trouble staying in front of me while he was still on track.
I gotta check to replay to see if you guys were just driving the tires to their carcass or if my setup and zeal to run "tony pace" was burning up my rears prematurely.

Initially, I was'nt pushing 100% (I did NOT take it easy, just to be clear) because I assumed (without testing it) that tyre concervation was important due to the long pit stop. Did'nt want to make more stops than necessary. And when I think about it, I could've done 14-14-14, but did'nt want to risk it.

The cars seem more gentle on the tyres than I expected, wich, as Marco said is a good thing! 👍

Already looking forward to tomorow. 👍

haha... 14 laps ... no way my rear tires would have gone that far. :embarrassed:

I don't know.. But I could've done that.. Not that the last 3-4 laps would be even close to fast, but concidering the 40 second pit lane, it might've been faster..

I'm going to use the Zonda R tomorrow, so will defenetly try to even out the wear.. Hence the extreme difference in ride hight in the base tunes I posted.. It gave me an even wear around Suzuka.. But I only drove 3 laps at the most, so it's likely the rears would've gone much faster than it seemed after 3 laps. Suzuka is also a track that favours MR cars in terms of wear. The FR cars usually have major front wear issues there.

But if you're going to use the Zonda R (I guess so  ), try the extreme ride hight setting in my base tune. 👍

Which version of Spa will we be running (Dry, weather, rain)?
And I think tire wear is not going to be as big a deal with a short pit and drafting.
Anyone have any idea what kind of speeds we can hit in a draft at Spa? I'm working on my gearing.

Watched the replay to gauge tire wear and it looks pretty even; just down to setup and driving. Dennis and Tony were pretty even and Me & carracer beat up our tires pretty evenly, he just made the wiser decision to risk the longer pushes to avoid the extra stop I was committed to.

I took some pictures while I was at it... I'm in a high contrast mood so you'll have to deal with that. :P

Nice pictures 👍
Next time I'm not going to "actually" clip the apex.

Fantastic job saving it on the rebound though. That could have gone all pear shaped pretty easily.
And look at all that room I left... I'm such a gentleman. ;)
