Question about adding oil in your car

Hey everyone, thanks for checking out this thread.

So this might sound stupid to some people but I recently acquired my first car and I was wondering if it is ok to add a different oil than the one my car was filled with at the factory assuming it is of the same grade/viscosity. My concern is that the chemicals in the oils might somehow break each other down but then, again, this is my first car and i'm not familiar with that kind of stuff.

I'm no expert but I think it should be fine, just make sure you don't overfill, that would be worse than any minor problems you could get with not having the ideal oil type.
 
It's fine.

You can even mix grades and synthetic oil with mineral (assuming that they are all within the boundaries recommended by the manufacturer)- you just end up with a blend of the grades/sources.
