I have a maybe stupid question. If an automatic transmission bounces off the limiter several time before it changes gear, is it caused by a too short gear ratio or just tire slip?

Both. If it's in the lower gears, like 1st and 2nd, then the gears are too short. If you're driving in the rain, you'll see this happen in just about every gear anyways, but yea. bouncing off limiter = gears too short.

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, I was talking about the lower gears. I thought it would be wheel spin, but the lack of tire smoke confused me. The car holds its line pretty well too, it just bounces and bounces. I will change the settings and test again.

No the LSD settings are unchanged. I made the first two gears as long as possible now the bouncing is almost gone. The car also performs better now.

Sounds like a car without LSD at all. What car is this?
The only cars I know of that can bounce off the rev limiter spinning the tires without smoke, are differential-challenged.

Its a fully tuned Suzuki SWIFT Sport '07. I've installed a adjustable LSD but haven't changed anything yet.

Another cause is loss of grip, my cars do it at high speed sections. The tire loosing contact will result in this.
