X What?
I have two questions for the G25 users.

1. What can be improved of the G25?

2. What must stay the way it is?

Thanks for your response.

Everything could be improved but the shifter could be built a lot better and they are working on a new G25 which they say is going to make the new fanatec wheels obselete.

This might be better off in the wheel section.

Most important Better pedals. G25 is big improvement over DFP and GT DFP.
But Clutch needs better work, as well bit stiffer GAS and realistic feel of the brake and ABS, LOCK ON feel in the brake.

Better Force Feedback, Even tho G25 is one of best in it's class, it never hurts to improve it a bit more.

900, 360, 180, and Custom Degree options right there on the wheel.

Better Stick Shift. More stiffness and more feel to it as real car. ( I did a mod for resistance, its better but it should be out of a BOX!)

Bit bigger wheel.

More Buttons on the wheel. Just like the DFP, GT-DFP.

Oh and it needs Force Feedback Strengths on the wheel itself.

I would like to see that race cloth or race leather on the wheel, I do not know what it is, but I see it almost in every race car.

I know Porsche wheel has some kind of VIBRATION, as whell when you press GAS I hear vibrations simulate engine growl, I think it would be nice to have it on G25 as well.

I like the way its cabled because no battery required, no hick ups etc.

I also Like how G25 is easy to just plug in and play. With PS2, PS3 and PC games. (alt ho some PC games needs reconfiguring with buttons on G25)

I really HOPE SO. Because new Porsche wheel RS is coming out. Has many of the features I ask for, as well KICK *** Pedals with ABS and lock up feel.

If I do not hear anything new from LOGITECH that new wheel is really coming out by end of spring, I am getting Porsche wheel. My G25 is getting bit old.

If I do buy the Porsche wheel RS, and few months later new Logitech wheel gets revival, I will buy it as well once it comes out.

Needs to be way faster at self centering. Maybe a larger diameter wheel. Paddles that don't turn with the wheel and maybe larger too. A brake pedal that is harder and has a lot more realistic feel to make heel and toe more natural. Adjustable distance between pedals and ability to invert pedals so they have same movement as real one. That's all I can think of for now. :)👍

I think self centering is good as it is. I have no issues with it, with DFP it was sooo slow, you really had to FORCE the wheel to center.

When you play PC race sims, I think you could adjust how fast Center could be.

I would like to see Larger diameter Wheel (more realistic). And a more realistic feeling Shifter. (i did the mod to stiffen the spring tension. Feels A LOT better. Should be stiffer out of the box).

Besides that i'm very happy with the wheel. I really like the resistance the brake pedal has but the lock-up feel etc. would be nice too.

The only problem i have so far with the G25 (on my 2nd one after warranty replacement) is i DRIFT a lot with the wheel in GT5p and in Live For Speed. And sometimes when fighting the force-feedback (counter-steering) i can hear/feel a click. It's VERY annoying and was horrible with the first wheel which is why i replaced it. But this one i got back about 2-3 months ago is starting to show the same symptoms. :indiff::guilty::grumpy:

One of the people form logitech posted on there forums they are making a new wheel for the PC and PS3 but cant say anything yet.

Yeah you would not notice unless you drift. If you drift with 900* the wheel cannot keep up. My real car has 1080* turn and does not need any help when applying counter steer (self centering effect), I can just leave the wheel go and catch it in the desired angle or sometimes I have to let it feed through my hand to stop it self centering too fast.

I sold my G25 but there are things to upgrade; like taking the click sound of the shifter and having less reverse feedback. The interior became rather hot so better cooling in the two motors. Better guide for changing from H-shift to sequential shift. Would be nice if it came in both silver (metallic like) and regular black(standard).

The brake pedal should use pressure to sense braking rather than travel. The hand brake sounds like a good Idea too.

I like the way the pedals are made so you can take them out of the casing and put them where you want, but this may void warranty. I like that all the parts are separate so you can place them to suit most. I like the profiler it would be nice if this was available on all platforms.

We all know that the shifter is the weak link in the G25. However, I have to admit, I've kind of got used to it now, so I don't find it that disturbing anymore.

I think the thing that would make the biggest difference IMO, would be to have FFB in the brake pedal. The braking in the games I play: GT5P, FC & F1CE is just too easy, & too bland without any "feel". I think FFB in the brakes would add a whole new dimension to the simulation. I know Fanatec is introducing this feature in their new pedals - it will be interesting to see how this works out...

Oh for sure I bet they are working on one.
There was a guy here who wrote a letter to Logitech about how to improve a wheel and he got responce back that the guys who work on wheels will try to implement these features in the future wheel... Some thing like that they wrote..
But There is still no Pics, no previews, nothing really official from Logitech, So I bet it will be here by end of 09..

I think I might buy (will definitely buy) the FANATEC Porsche RS wheel and see how the competition to Logitech stocks up. Then get the new Logitech wheel once it comes out.. I better start saving now.. OH WAIT! I did save up allready!! :D

Ahh I do not drift... and maybe you are right there are moments when back of the car spins out and fast counter steer needs to be really forced. I think there is an option for PC games to fix that right? But I know for consoles, there is not, unless PD implement it in the game..
So far the smoothest wheel that I've seen so far is the FREX wheel, I seen a review by SimRacingTonight (InsideSimRacing) but yeh its over $2,000 USD!

As far as I am aware the only fix for this is to have about 50 degrees of steering lock, with around 720* turning. That way the steering wheel can keep up, but it would be nice if it was fast enough to keep up at 900*.

When I was buying my g25 I could not find any other wheel that had FFB and 900* with a clutch and shifter, no matter what the price range. It's good that there are more companies starting to do this it can only be better for us, but $2000 wow that is expensive.

After I get the Porsche RS wheel from fanatec, Ill write if it is faster or not then G25.

But yeah Before G25 was pretty much only wheel to have all in one box plug in and play.
I know there were few companies to make shifters, but it was separate USB cable and I think PC only compatible.
Even tho G25 is not listed in GT5P yet the shifter and clutch work, that what I love about Logitech, I am a little worried about Fanatec and drivers since whenever GT5P comes up with update, wheel itself needs update as well.

I only got my G25 about a month. And love it, I think it may be the best wheel ever made to date, but I don't know them all...

But I also share some (if not all) of your concerns, so I'm gonna repeat a few...

a) Not good: Gear-shift. It's the only thing I consider not good. Really odd and different from the wheel and pedals. These have strong realistic feel. Resistance to movement and travel are very good. The manual shifter in the other hand (literally) is loose, tiny, short and imprecise.

b) Can be improved.
Wheel should be "heavier" right from zero turning. To provide better feel, not just the force feedback when turning (hope you get what I'm trying to say here...)

Pedals should be adjustable (spacing and depth). To suit each ones preferences for left foot braking, heel/toe, etc. Also improve brake pedal (too long and linear, should be shorter and exponential) and clutch (it's basically on/off, doesn't help the standing-starts).

c) Nice to haves:
More buttons and settings on the wheel to allow for more fiddling while driving, and make it easier to do (I have them configured on the G25, somewhere behind the shifter, not easy to handle while driving).
Larger wheel...
Wheel tilt adjustment...
Hand brake...
Paddles moving with the wheel...

And a freekin' HORN to complaint and let off some steam when you meet those pesky punters 👍

A small lcd in the center that would display the manufacturer would be also nice:drool:

EDIT:
2. What must stay the way it is?

The build quality, and the materials. Leather and metal, sweet...

The most important thing to me, is being able to use it on the 360, ps3, and pc. That;s why I pre ordered the new fanatic clubsport wheel. I can't wait for march to come.
I don't think logitech will ever make a cross platform wheel. I can't see microsoft letting 2 companies make a high end wheel for the 360.

The main reason I bought ps3 over 360 is because 360 had no good wheel available.

I would prefer the wheel buttons to stay the way they are I never had to adjust any settings during a race. Also it would look like a toy, like the porsche wheel does with all the buttons. Just my opinion anyway.

@Hornet the clutch is a GT5p fault nothing to do with G25.👍

Yes, now that I tried it on the PC, I saw it's progressive. My bad. Ignorance :(

Edit: PS3 and PC doesn't qualify as cross platform, but it's at least multi platform. :)

Things that I definetely want to stay are the raw feeling of it and its looks.
On improvements, I would like to have e-brake and 'Dxtweak' for PS3 so I can change the axis travel to suit any particular game.

50 degrees lock makes it too snappy don't you think? (presuming you meant in GT5). For me, I still love the natural feel between 30-35 but need to be a bit more careful on exits.

On the other note...Oooh I would love to try that Frex but man..it is too freaking expensive:drool:. I have Porsche wheel as well but G25 is way way better for drifting. Self centering on the porsche wheel is very slow, like DFP. I need to do a lot of wheel 'recovery' after counter steerings & corrections. With G25 I can just recover with just smooth throttle but with Porsche wheel a lot of steering input is needed. Good for racing, not for fun drift...:sly:
👍

I was referring to the fix for PC games self centering, LFS in particular, but now that you mention it, I also use 50 in GT5p, I have an aggressive style so the snappiness does not bother me, I prefer to have the extra self center effect.

I thought you can just lock to 36 deg in LFS. Do you mind sharing on how to do that? 👍

You will find a valuemod on lfs forum in unofficial addons. You can set the steering lock to what ever you like with it, but it doesn't work online unfortunately.

:tup:Hey thanks, might give it a try one day... 👍

Wouldn't it be great if G25 can be adjusted up to maybe 4 turns lock to lock like those real life cars with loads of steering angle...?:)
