The paint job looks like crap. That alone makes it questionable.

No it doesn't, we've been over why it's not once which I'm guessing is the reason you're coming to his aid. Once again it's for a purpose to look like that, the other cars he posted are made that way and driven about. They serve no purpose to be that way other than the owners taste in public on display.
Good God, having a purpose doesn't equal not questionable.

I think this is highly questionable, it's also insanely fast in the 1/4. I think they ruined a perfectly good 57 Bel-Air. Their view, was not mine. They must think it's awesome, to have built it.

Uh yeah it does, the entire point of this thread is to post up every day cars that you see on the street race cars of any variation don't operate under the same format. If they did they wouldn't have their own threads.

Also just like I had to point out to you before on this thread I believe it was, anyways that isn't the real body, I mean not sure when you're going to learn.

For example https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/worst-liveries-of-all-time.246728/

Paint it pink with flowers all over it, and then tell me it's not questionable.

99% sure that mini belair gasser is a fiberglass body...

and I agree with the Black NSX being awesome... the blue one not so much
There's nothing stock left, but I know it started as a real 57. I pulled it from my reservoir of drag racer pics. Let me see if I can find the article...

EDIT: Brings up a 404... :( seeing if it's been posted anywhere else.

Double-Edit: That's not the right Bel Air. This is the one where there's pretty much nothing stock left.

The yellow one was custom-built from the ground up, just made to look like a 57 Chevy.

I would daily the blue one, the black nsx with golden bbs wheels, i'd stash in my garage forever.
 I'd restore the blue one to it's original condition, then paint it red.

Anyway, wrong Bel-Air picture. The red one above is the one I wanted. The yellow one is just custom built to look like a 57.

Why would it be questionable because you're insecure about it? If it's on a monster truck or race car or dragster what does it matter, I've seen liveries like that before it's ugly but doesn't make the car questionable since it's serving the purpose intended. Doing it on a daily driver has no purpose other than that to the owner.

Same issue you had with the Mustang and then had to be corrected, with all things that are actually questionable in the world you ironically get caught up in exterior decorating.

How does a certain paint job have a "purpose" on a race car?

I'm familiar with the red pro mod aswell, if I recall the only originality left is (or was untill a rollover) was the roof skin.

there was a similar Bel Air that used to run Thunder Car division at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville In. I'm trying to find pics now... may have to dig out my old programs... everyone used to complain that they where destroying a classic... I probably would have agreed had his uncle not bought the car new and built a gasser out of it before it had 100 mi on it...

Yeah, the red pro mod I don't like, but hey, at least the lightning bolts are cool!

And yes, it was the roof until it flipped, dented the top up really bad, and had to be replaced.

And I'd love to see the pics if you can find them 👍. It's not that dragsters are bad cars, I just don't like it when they take a classic and start changing it like that. They were built for and serve their purpose, but to me, a classic cars' purpose is a street legal cruiser.

google nor bing isnt being much help...

I did find this shot from the same track taken in the late 70s apparently, its the right color but appears to me to be a '55
gary_cooksey_78.jpg

the car I remember had a MASSIVELY chopped top and a huge cowel on the hood with white accents and ran the number 57x

Off to the garage to find the programs but be warned they're all in black and white

And how does it no detract from it? If it looks like garbage, then yes, it does.

I didn't know the livery kept it from being a funny car which is what detracting would be if you weren't aware. In other words it doesn't other than for you to complain it's uglier than all the rest of the cars that do the same job and purpose.

Also I'm guessing you never watched Gary Scelzi race

Oooooh. I see now. Just because the car has a purpose, it means the design automatically has a purpose?

Well the design does have a purpose whether you like it or not, which is why it goes counter to what this thread is for. Once again if every race car you disliked due to colors or shapes was put here because you find it questionable, it would defeat the purpose of the thread especially when those cars are built to do a job/design task and do just that.

It would also defeat the purpose of threads that exist already and do this specific task, once again it's about road cars people can buy. I know you're naive at times but it's not that hard to understand.

Well, I still don't see anymore purpose than if it was on someone's daily driver.

Well as far as I'm concerned that thread is here.

Funny how you seem to be the only one who seems to think that.

Think what? That race car liveries should be posted in the thread that it's designated for, no I'm pretty sure the mods might care as well since once again that's what the thread is for and has been for the past couple years. I'd say the several pages there is more in agreement with that notion then this claim that no one agrees with me, and you say this probably due to past arguments you've had with me. So it's not all that humorous especially when people aren't even commenting and just watching this train wreck unfold, the only person I've seen agree with you is the one other person I argued with about this on the thread today, oh and Johnny which seems to be the only rational claim of agreement with you.

Well this is pretty funny actually.
